Im lowkey happy about this. I love Crash 4 and i've completed it 106% about 4+ times now but i prefer Vicarious Visions for Crash. Even Beenox is better.

VV knows what the casuals want and that's what Crash needs atm if Activision wants to solidify the franchise (and keep the games coming, we don't need another 9 year break pls)

I doubt we’re getting anything. Crash 4 didn’t do as well as they wanted and they shat out that Rumble game last year and are presumably leaving it to die. I truly hope some great team are working on Crash 5 behind the scenes as VV did great. But I’m nervous

I do remember Activision claiming in 2020 that Crash 4 did well (alongside Tony Hawk Pro Skater) and helped offset their decline in revenue for that year. It's probably around 1.5M - 2M atp which is okay despite not matching the remakes' numbers. It's also a more expensive game so i guess that sorta evens it out.

Rumble straight up flopped but that was expected tbh, it was originally gonna be DLC/extra content for Crash 4 (as Wumpa League) but they made it out to be a game. So i think whatever figure it sold it did ok for its standards.

At the end of the day im optimistic about the future of Crash. The remakes are still selling (with N Sane Trilogy crossing the 10M mark) and that shows theres still an interest for Crash if the formula is done right. They can always call Vicarious Visions and see what they can do to make that work for a title. Future Tense (the only original content from NST) remains one of my favorite levels in the entire franchise tbh.

You’re SO right about Future Tense tbh. VV (from the GBA games back in the day to FT) have proven that they know exactly what makes a Crash game. 4 was great but too hard and unforgiving and it felt gimmicky for it. We need a balance that 3’s DLC hinted at.

I love this whole post actually you’ve really nailed it and quelled some of my pessimism lol. Crash is my all time fave so I would love to see a return to the trilogy’s formula with the positive innovations of Crash 4. A game with shorter but still very tricky levels in the latter portion would be a dream. Here’s hoping they’re hard at work.

Some more info:

- Crash on the Run has been delisted from mobile stores.

- March 4th is the last update for Rumble.

The craziest to me is that just a few weeks ago we had Crash Rumble merch in McDonalds Happy Meals!

How do you go from such a promo spot that was last seen 20 years ago to delisted from app stores???

I think this was not Toys for Bob's' intention but the layoffs probably tipped them over the edge.

It really sucks that everything regarding Crash gets handled in a really messy way.

Crash 4's rollout was very rushed and they basically killed Nitro Fueled's hype for it. Why would anyone stop updating a 6M+ selling title with a strong online gamerbase out of the blue over a risky, first non-remake game in over 13 years? :rip:

Don't even get me started on this On The Run/Rumble fiasco. I really wish Crash would be handled by Sony again, Activision is the pits when it comes to consistency. They even find ways to screw their biggest title (CoD) :dies:

so much for the new Spyro game I was expecting to be announced this year

I'm just happy we got the CTR remake tbh

The fact that Mario, Plumber Boy, Moustache Man got the last laugh :bibliahh:

Spoiler

I love Crash. He's iconic. His sales would have sky rocketed if he was part of the Smash Bros roster tbh
