For all her supposed fans quoting Beautiful Dirty Rich and Money Honey. In her own words, those songs are not literal but about acting like you are rich and famous even when you have nothing, they're about a mindset and not actual money. They were essentially making fun of the Paris Hilton/Kim Kardashian celebrity culture of the time.

I can't believe I have to actually explain this.

how is this controversial for someone has opened a book of arts?

Beyond insufferable. No tea no shade but she hasn’t made a good album in over a decade.

it wouldn’t be a big deal if she didn’t believe she makes some great artistic music. Even her music videos declined in quality and creativity.

I'm not aware of the full context, but is this statement supposed to be controversial? Majority, if not all of all the art you consume everyday has been made under capitalism, good or bad.

As one of the few members on this site whose country was socialist until relatively recently, it was worse for 'art'. For example, they had a tax on junk/trash music. If the commission decided for a record that it was trash music, it would be additionally taxed, so it would have a higher price in stores than "non-trash" music, because it was produced 'to make money, and to the detriment of social morality.' Of course, the real purpose of it was just an additional way to censor anything they found to be politically suspicious and not in favor of the regime.

There are more types of capitalism besides the untethered corporate one found in america that's been plaguing that country. And trust me when I say that people from places that had experienced non-capitalistic systems are reading these 'capitalysm=bad !!' takes from the privileged chronically online westerners with disgust.

No one wants to get home to the news I got home to this evening (cause I was hanging out with my friend Jude most of the day). No one. I was preparing my overnight oats, turning on wi-fi and the first thing I read is: “Lady Gaga: Art and Capitalism Can Be Friends”. I blinked my eyes countless times and I went on Facebook just to see more and more posts about it. I couldn’t believe it. My Lardy Gags dream was over and there I was at 1:39 am sitting in my kitchen looking at the screen of my iPhone.

I know this may sound a bit too much but… Yes. Tears started falling from my eyes and they wouldn’t stop. I don’t consider this to be an over dramatic reaction like many of you could easily consider. I look at it as unconditional love, dedication and passion. Something unexplainable, no one can translate love into words or even admiration. Some people get your attention and you don’t know why. And while I am fully aware that Mother Monster ain't over, she's just down to... idk saying something really stupid, I also am aware that it’s never going to be the same. It doesn’t matter if it is Gaga or GaGa or Stef or Jo Calderone or Ally Maine or Lee. It doesn’t. I saw this pop queen being born when she was just a New York Italisn. A few years later she turned into a strong and confident woman and extremely inspirational. She brought the term “pop queen” back in the music industry and scored two of the biggest hits of the end of the aughts decade. I was obsessed and extremely proud of it.

I’ve always been aware that pop queens are not meant to last and that’s why I flew to Denver (that's a lie, but I did live in Boulder at the time, I was in a situationship with some dude who had a rich jeweler mom and THAT'S why I was front row at the Joanne Ball Tour) just to see her live in like 2017. I knew this was a fast career and that’s why I spent over 800€ (idk what that is in US dollars but couldn't be me b*tch lol I'm broke!) on this Gaga (I’ve watched her live twice, I met her twice, I bought her music, I took a trip just to see her, paid hotel… You make the counts!). I wanted to live it as much as I could and looking back I am so proud of every single thing I did for HER. She brought back my fan vein in a way I’ve never experienced before. Britney Spears, Shakira… They’re both established artists and it’s another story on how their careers are handled.

Every Lady Gaga fan was aware that she was not happy. Ever since “Rain on Me” became a smash, something went wrong and the relationship between Gaga and the four other (idk could be her makeup artists and choreographers or like physical therapist or maybe her alter egos. let's say Jo Calderone is one of them) has always been weird. There’s indifference and I don’t know what to think. Nonetheless, I am no one to judge that. All I want to make clear is: Lady Gaga are never going to be Ladey Gags again and that’s why I feel like my dream has been crashed. My LITTLE MONSTERS TORTURE ME dream has ended. It hurts so bad when you’re not prepared… After all she announced a *I forget what number album she's about to be on I'm such a fake stan* album last week.

And no. I am not turning my back on Gaga. This was a rough decision but I know what it's like to be in a place where you don't belong or feel included and sometimes... It's better to just go for it.

Yet, I always like to see things from the bright side and I am going to always support Lady Gaga as a project just like any of the five personae (queen of being pop's Roger Smith!) as individual acts. They’ve had an amazing and beautiful impact in my life.

Fourth (Fifth) Gaga… Good luck. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta… Good Luck.

Lady Gaga… Thank You. You’ve given me the ultimate fan experience and you’ve been so inspirational. All of you.

That same user trashes politicians, celebrities etc for sneezing but refuses to discuss the blackfishing and homewrecking of his own fave and instead makes passing jokes. If the other girls were to do something similar, he would be calling for their public crucifixion :rip:

Obviously the statement itself isn't that controversial since we're all practically rooting for capitalists on this site and consuming their art, but also girl.....just stfu and keep shilling your makeup and Nurtec pills. Would be nice to give the us the art in question too.

I don't like holding her to things she said a decade ago because people grow and change and she's a whole different person now, but maybe we need her to be shipped back to NY. The LA/Vegas life turned her into just another annoying, boring celebrity. It's kinda sad to watch. Watch her say some dumb **** like "art and AI can be friends!" mid album campaign. Literally the Grimesification of Gaga.

Sis, you arguing that someone dating a recent divorcee is as harmful as a politician materially supporting the genocide of 2M Palestinians proves my point. And why the idea of engaging with "you think for-profit healthcare is bad yet consume pop music - gotcha" levels of contrarian that populate these kinds of threads is not worth the effort.

It's not normal to make every interaction you have rooted in how you imagine a user perceives Taylor Swift and that every post is a secret jab against her.

"You consume [x]'s music passively for $0.005 per stream and YET if it was TAYLOR making that'd money, suddenly she'd be a v--" SSRIs, immediately.

How can we drag capitalists when we all secretly dream of a rich sugar daddy taking away our problems?

Because capitalism is an economic structure and there would still be wealth even without capitalism

0 points were made. You're out here equating Ariana being a homewrecker to.....Joe Biden (and other politicians Communion criticizes) being a terrible politician and a war criminal. Braindead stans logic.
