shyboi Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) No questionable strategies, no surprise release, no quick collabs, no mysteries or enigmas to gain momentum just an epic country song that doesn't need flashy anticipations Is organic the new norm? Edited February 26 by shyboi 1

Rotunda Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I think it’s just further evidence that there isn’t a singular formula for success. Gimmicks will continue to work for some and flop for others. Same with promo runs or just letting the music speak for itself. 7
jonapova Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I hope so. An amazing song doesn’t need a gimmick to sell. This is Beyoncé’s year 1

She spent the 10s building her legacy to new heights while the other girls chased EDM hits and now look.... Bosque Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) The song would be doing well whether she surprise releases or announces it Edited February 26 by Dephira

Happylittlepunk Posted February 26 Posted February 26 She still surprised release during the Super Bowl. But it doesn’t take away the fact that beyonce imo never needed to rely on gimmicks. I think just simply enjoys making her music an event for her fans.
TROPICUM Posted February 26 Posted February 26 it just means that beyonce doesn’t need cheap gimmicks because… she’s beyonce 1

byzantium Posted February 26 Posted February 26 We are talking about a woman who surprised released these singles through a telecommunication conglomerate commercial right? 1

LittleStarmen Posted February 26 Posted February 26 There was a whole verizon gimmick ad for the release
CandleGuy Posted February 26 Posted February 26 A random pivot to country announced during the Super Bowl isn't gimmicky? Congrats on her success but this argument isn't it

Im not dragging or understating her.. but the song Was surprise released on the most watched event in a country that loves Country It was not released at the SB. New music was implied in that commercial. In that commercial, My House was playing and the streams for the song didn't move so that can't be it. OT : Let's not set Beyoncé up. Gimmicks and promotion work sometimes and sometimes they do not. Using gimmicks or promotion is nothing to scoff at. There's no strict or clear recipe.

yonsé Posted February 26 Posted February 26 it was definitely surprise released but sure hon get that hit thread
JonginBey Posted February 26 Posted February 26 People bringing up the Verizon commercial when the title of the thread clearly says “cheap gimmicks.” Mother made millions 1 5
My Tears Ricochet Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Interesting. So all of Beyoncé's release strategies from Self titled till now were cheap gimmicks?
