GrandeVersace Posted February 24 Posted February 24 She's my fave but Madonna. The guests were terrible and the setlist could have been way more interesting. The intro is iconic though. Props to that.

TheBlackBarbie Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Katy Perry. She's never been known as a performer, so I don't even know how she got that gig in the 1st place. Both QUEENS killed they're performances effortlessly (Madonna & Beyonce)
XDNA Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Shakira and JLo should have had their own shows. Maybe Shakira doesn't have enough English hits, but she could invite a guest performer like Pitbull or Ricky Martin to perform a couple songs too. 1

Blue Rose Posted February 24 Posted February 24 My friends and I had a game night and once we were too drunk to do anything we decided to watch all the Pop girls halftime shows. This was probably my idea. I remember having the remote control. We gagged at Bey, Shakira and Gaga. Madonna was a mixed bag. Katy was comical, everyone was laughing, which surprised me a bit because I had always loved her production but rewatching it exposed so many flaws so that’s what I would delete 2 2

They relied on visual staging completely
vince_martin88 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 A toss up between Madonna and Katy Madonna since MIA, Petty, LMFAO and Ceelo ruined it. She could've done it solo or had Britney as a guest. Katy since Missy outshined her plus watching her show is like watching Barney & Friends
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted February 24 ATRL Moderator Posted February 24 I love her with all my heart, but Madonna's was the weakest for me out of the five.
Xtina23 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Weakest of the options - easily Beyonce. Katy's & Jlo/Shakira's = best of all time!! 1 1
Mr. Stratus Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) Easily Madonna. half the show was compiled of extras, and one hit wonders of the time. it was like there zero confidence in her. Also no costume changes. Katy didn't sing a note of hers live, but was nonetheless entertaining. Gaga sang live, danced, debuted new song. all solo. Edited February 24 by Mr. Stratus 1
Jay07 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 People clinging to live singing is like constantly deflecting to the Oscar when questioned about musical success. No one goes to the halftime for vocals, it's all about the spectacle and sadly, one of the above acts didn't deliver. 3 3
MadOnHer Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I've never really understood the complaints about Madonna's setlist... She did Vogue, Music, Give Me All Your Luvin', Open Your Heart, Express Yourself and Like A Prayer. That's four US #1s and a US #2. Are people really that resentful about the inclusion of her new single (when others have done the same) + a small excerpt from that LMFAO song? Anyway, as others have said the Superbowl is about the spectacle, no-one cares about vocals or live singing (let's not forget that MJ mimed his performance too!) I would have to say that Gaga's was the least impressive visually. The only thing that really stood out was that awkward descent onto the stage... 2
Diego_Costa Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Rihanna’s was the easy answer but I guess hers was already deleted

You do know that JLo was originally supposed to headline the show alone, right? Jay-Z managed to sneak Shakira (who was under his label) in the lineup at the last minute, transforming the event into a celebration of Latin culture rather than an exclusive JLo performance. This is why Shakira was added. Otherwise the NFL would've never invited Shakira to headline the Super Bowl especially solo. And also, you can see in JLo's documentary that she was originally going to have more stage time than Shakira, but JLo herself said that it wouldn't be fair, and wanted both her and Shakira to have equal amount of stage time. They didn’t have equal amount of stage or camera time though. Shakira was featured much more visually and sonically. Both voice and songs. And not by a little..

I was expecting at least Holiday, Into the groove but we got Express Yourself and Vogue, I know technically they were more successful on the charts but more people are probably more familar with those two and it fit the event, the other two did not. 1

I personally think Vogue was an essential inclusion. Although I agree that Holiday would have fitted very well! I guess this is just the problem that an artist like Madonna will always face. She's had so many hits that even her two hour concerts always result in fans griping about the songs that were excluded. There was simply no way she could have satisfied the majority of people with a show that was under 13 minutes long! 1
AvadaKedavra Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) I would delete Beyonce halftime show first. I didnt like the black costume she was wearing. I didnt like how she missed some cues at the begginin. The show was "too rock" and i wanted something more urban from her I also didnt like the track selection and some of her sasha faces were scary lol. She was like too hyper-energized or something Beyonce deserves to have another one. Even with all of this her stamina was great. her dancing and vocals. I get why people say is one of the best ones or in the top 2-3. Personally not my favorite Then i would delete Gaga superbowl. Even if the intro was just beautiful she looked very stiff dancing the whole show lol It was also too monothematic. Wanted more costume changes or something different. Cmon it was gaga. I thought she would give us a circus The show all blended into one in some parts. Could have been something more interesting. The dancers costumes were also weird and some of their choreo. Wanted something more electronic futuristic and less rock Then i would delete Madonna show. Loved the tech stage-platform and transitions and how expensive the costumes looked cause it was circus of soleil but I didnt like the cee lo green part. That was annoying. Some moments with lmfao were a bit cringe too but honestly i just loved the show cause it looked expensive in some parts and brought back the magic and love about the superbowl. That vogue intro was also perfect. The like a prayer one was so beautiful Then i would delete the Jlo-Shak one. The thing i didnt like about the Shakira and Jlo one is how cheap the stage looked. It was a lot of fun and so entertaining. Honoring multiculturality and their dancing was just insane. Feels like a battle of dancers We also love a ballsy political statement but They spent all the money in pyrotechnics. I wanted a more expensive lookin show. I feel like the Jlo one looked more expensive than shak Shakira won with her beautiful red dress tho. I hated the guest here. Would have been better with gloria estefan than bunny or balvin Then the winner for me is Katy perry with her amazing and colorful superbowl. Great guests. Great moments. Transitions. Such a ride I just wish some of the costumes looked more expensive. The californian gurls one looked so cheap and mixed feelings about the dark horse one Blame jeremy for that Edited February 24 by AvadaKedavra
Roberto Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Katy because I don't like her, but they are all very strong, tbh.
