Camila confirms new music direction by making “weird experimental pop music”

If there’s one word that’s driven Camila’s approach on this album it’s “uncompromising,” as she puts it, “I just really wanted to challenge myself. What excites me the most is to do things that I’ve never done before.” For her that meant working with a new producer, Pablo El Guincho, who she was drawn to because “I felt like he had just such a fresh perspective on pop music. He was the first person I just immediately knew that I wanted to work with. I felt like he was kind of the weird guy in pop, and I just love working with people like that. I feel like that too, and I feel like I’m my best self when I’m doing weird experimental pop music.”

You will never be Charli XCX [64564654645]

"weird experimental pop music" and it will end up being "I love Miami-mi-mi-mi Oh na na *pots and pans*"

We want summer latin pop bops like Havana, She Loves Control, Senorita, My Oh My, Liar and Bam Bam. That sound is her bread and butter and no one is doing that style of music in English except for her. Shame if she throws it all away....

El Guincho?  hopefully it’s experimental latin pop music. Like somebody said, she really shines with latin tinged sounds.

I’m happy she’s doing something different. How boring would it be if she comes back right Havana part 6.

As long as it’s different period and not different for her but a carbon copy of someone else

LOOOOOOL ok this PR statement is kinda fun ill give her that

so she's coming for Charli AND Rosalía's gig? :giraffe:

her artpop could mean anything

Posted

if it's somewhat close to 'shameless' sound i'll be here for it

i know 'shameless' is not hyperpop or experimental/weird

but i guess it's the closest (even if still far) she has ever been of something different?

and IT'S A BOP

so i guess it can work?

interscope is really good with artistic directions

however, i don't know if the target audience will be here for Camila. let's wait and see

blonde was nice.

Her PR team should know better than to let her describe herself/her music as ‘weird’, she’s like the poster girl for cringe quirky random energy

Speak for yourself, I don’t want that at all - she’s released different variations of essentially that same Latin pop song several different times now, change is good

I’m happy she’s experimenting and trying new sounds, Latin pop made her so one dimensional
