I feel bad for him. I think the college experience is really about the connections you make outside of class, the socializing in dorms, the events hosted on campus and extracurriculars, etc. Sounds like he's missing all of that, which is quite sad.

I just went to classes and went to my apartment after.

Aww, sorry to hear that.

Maybe if he actually stayed on campus after class and talked to other students instead of rushing back to the airport he could have found roommates to solve this issue.

My guess is hes very picky when it comes to room mates or is shy and not social. Idk.

Its crazy its cheaper to fly twice a week then rent a 1b apartment just to attend college.

Its crazy to me people go str8 to uni instead of taking basics at community college. I saved so much money by transferring from a community College to a Uni.

Where does he sleep on weekdays though?

The bathhouses are open 24/7

Why are you two so rude? People approach life differently and that's okay. No need for snarky comments.

Those flight prices though, especially if they are in Canadian dollars... I wish.

You know what

Maybe to balance out the weirdly horny comments bout this brat, I will say: if I catch him at the airport (in my country), it's going down

People want to be packed like sardines so bad :dies: If he can afford to live without roommates AND saves money by utilizing existing flights that would be flying back and forth half empty anyway, why shouldn't he.

His "why don't we just" slip up makes me think he lives with his boyfriend, that's why he needs a separate place. :thing:

There was a similar story last year. Alexa, play Deja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo

I was expressing sympathy, not being snarky. I'm sorry if my tone was unclear and disturbed you.

Exactly. In many countries, 4 or 6 students live together in a dorm room with bunk beds

Bunk beds!?

Tbh I think sharing a room with a complete stranger does not sound fun, and I'm glad it's not common in my country. Sharing a flat is fine, but people need their own bedrooms.

I immediately thought of this and thought the OP is rehashing a story from last year. Then I realized it's a completely different guy because this guy (Tim Chen) is Canadian.

I also remembered some chatter about flying to work way before the pandemic and working from home, like this guy who worked in London but lived in Barcelona. I would suppose it's a lot more common since WFH is a lot more common after 2020.

When you account the fact you have to show up earlier at the airport, the time you have to spend there in order to do the various checks, getting the seat, lines, plus checking for  other transportation services since I assume the University is not attached to the airport, all the overall time lost for doing these trips, you can easily get the 900$ of diffecerence out of it.

They should admit they're doing that for personal choice and preference, not for actual saving.
