This sorta is reminiscent of what Beyoncé did with her Super Bowl in 2013. Her fans were waiting for new music but she didn't launch anything for her Halftime show, just slowly built up her hype more and more until it was time to release the project. They had the collaboration signed for and agreed in late 2019 - early 2020. They just opened a guitar hero kind of game with a seasonal pass featuring musicians, with the preceding one being The Weeknd. Chromatica is still her latest era and it makes sense to include Gaga now a "live" concert experience like Ariana's would've probably not done good. Fortnite Festival is a new game mode on Fortnite, like Guitar Hero. shes gonna have her skins and people could play her songs in the game for a full season (2 months), like The Weeknd this season. It would be nice if she had a concert or event in the main mode (Battle Royal) like Ariana, Travis and Eminem, but I doubt it since it seems those plans were scrapped in 2020.
