FolkLover1989 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) This is insane Excluding Kpop all of these are in Top 10 So for Western Artist she had 5 of the Top 10 best selling albums Edited February 27 by FolkLover1989 2
FolkLover1989 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Basically 50% of Top 10 was occupied by Taylor Swift albums last year for Western Music This is massive

Feanor Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 3 albums (!) by her competing for the #10 slot and all of them ending up blocked. 2

State of Grace. Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Loser blocked as it should be Maybe 2024 is the time. folklore serving classic album at #13 too without being carried by big hits
lily42 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 How is ZB1 there and not TXT when Temptation had 2.8M on Circle Year End (after returns and all adjusted)?
State of Grace. Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) WaiT at IVE girlies sneaking into the Top 20. Get Up missing is weird. Maga Wallen being above Taylor is also really ridiculous especially with how local that album was. How the hell were his units in the US/Australia (his main markets) enough to edge out Midnights when the latter stomped everywhere. This chart and the artists one need better ratios Edited February 27 by State of Grace. 1

This chart and the artists one need better ratios US streams count more basically The royalty for streams is different for every country. Midnights smashed in Asia and LatAm tok where royalties are less. So weighted Morgan sold more. But I think then they should weight vinyl more too but they don't sadly

This chart and the artists one need better ratios We knew it was going to be close. Morgan’s album had the biggest single year for any album since Adele’s 25 in the US. When you factor in his major markets he had about 6-7 million units which is about where we expected midnights to be too. I think a lot of people discount the size of the U.S. it has a similar population and economy to the entire EU. Then when you include Canada and Australia (which are countries about the population of California and Florida) it is still a substantial market. 2
Ms. Togekiss Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Midnights the TRUE #1 global album of 2023 that wasn’t carried by one country like the albums at 1-3 1
iHype. Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I know IFPI does a country economic conversion for units, and also physicals are weighed differently (i.e. Vinyls > CDs). Is this somewhat how the top 20 looks with units assigned? 1. SEVENTEEN - 'FML' (7.5 million) 2. Stray Kids - '5-STAR' (7 million) 3. Morgan Wallen - 'One Thing At A Time' (6.25 million) 4. Taylor Swift - 'Midnights' (6 million) 5. Taylor Swift - '1989 (Taylor's Version)' (6 million) 6. NCT Dream - 'ISTJ' (6 million) 7. SZA - 'SOS' (6 million) 8. SEVENTEEN - 'Seventeenth Heaven' (5.75 million) 9. Stray Kids - 'ROCK-STAR' (5 million) 10. Travis Scott - 'UTOPIA' (3.5 million) 11. Taylor Swift - 'Lover' (3.5 million) 12. Taylor Swift - 'Speak Now' (3.5 million) 13. Taylor Swift - 'folklore' (3.25 million) 14. Jung Kook - 'GOLDEN' (3 million) 15. The Weeknd - 'Starboy' (2.5 million) 16. Metro Boomin - 'HEROES & VILLAINS' (2.5 million) 17. Bad Bunny - 'Un Verano Sin Ti' (2.5 million) 18. ZEROBASEONE - 'YOUTH IN THE SHADE' (2.25 million) 19. Miley Cyrus - 'Endless Summer Vacation' (2.25 million) 20. IVE - 'I've IVE' (2 million) 2
ATRL Moderator wehavetostan Posted February 27 ATRL Moderator Posted February 27 Glad Starboy got the units instead of The Highlights
Feanor Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Well, this is it for now from IFPI. Once they publish their full annual report, we should get separate top 10 album charts based on 1. pure sales 2. streams and 3. vinyl, and also some general industry numbers. They usually release it in late March iirc. 1
Ivan_brit Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Endless Summer Vacation at the Top 20 The way Miley could had a massive era of she was not hiding all year
