Houdini [extended] and Training Season [extended] are great songs, but both are doing worse than Dance The Night, so they are factually not good leads Dance the night is a film song from the biggest film of 2023..
False God Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I feel like she will just put DTN in the album so it will appear bigger
SayIt Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Houdini and Training Season…longevity and songs of the summer just wait and see

jadeabove Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm thoroughly enjoying Training Season. Houdini can be easily fixed by changing the structure of the song on the album release. They are far from being bad songs.
MaxMartin Posted February 18 Posted February 18 No , but this pinpoints the lack of pop touch that Kevin has. I mean Houdini & TS are crystal clear, they sound expensive , they are GOOD, but there's hardly any excitement thought the song. TS needed a punchier production on each chorus. The same goes to Houdini , although the dramatic synths at the end make up for that. 1
J-esper Posted February 18 Posted February 18 The song has just been out for a few days and probably will be an otner hit across Europe and some other markets. Scrapping an era hardly has ever benefited any artist and currently there is absolutely no reason to scrap or postpone anything. Overall her US peaks have been going up and down like a rollercoaster anyways, which isn't weird for a non-US based artist. Even a global monster hit like Cold Heart only reached #7 in the US. the only thing that needs to be changed is the promo plan and have her be more invested in performing, which is the only thing lacking so far. I am sure there are more gems on the album and she will be more than fine in the long run.
AvadaKedavra Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) If i were her i would release the album and then move on. I think pushing back the album can be worst for her. Tame impala was a mistake. Also wheres is the budget this era? at least she will get some acclaim i guess Then next year release an album with hits and better producer and aesthethic and a more stylish her. Maybe something more urban, hot and dancey and less alternative Been noticing how red hair doesnt suit pop eras. Is rare when it works well commercialy wise. Edited February 18 by AvadaKedavra 1
synk Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Honestly, no! I really liked the two songs that have come out so far and they sound different from FN.
Vespertine Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Both songs are great, and I’m looking forward to the full album, especially if there are more tracks with Kevin Parker. 1
Dante Silva Posted February 18 Posted February 18 No, as a European she simply leans towards a path American fans can’t culturally connect with.

I agree with you specially the marketing part , i feel like making her dad her main manager was a bad decision and he seems like he doesn’t know what he is doing , everything is all over the place
Sad Serenade Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I hope she doesn't. She has released two good songs and to be honest Houdini performance ww is not that bad.
HANZ94 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yes and she should start quitting that red hair she has it just doesn’t suit her at all and the visuals are also lame She is so lazy this era and like others say the music is so samey now time to change the sound 1
dooart Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm failing to see how a song released in November w/ +250M streams in February is a flop. Mind you, she released it right before the xmas freeze. They're both quality bops and I'm really happy we got an Dua x Kevin Parker album otw, it's exactly what i need And i'm laughing at the "scrap the era" like that worked out for anyone, ever. This is 2024's Motomami i think. The minute the album releases and the reviews acclaiming it starts getting out, y'all switch. The album will do just fine, she's not Taylor or Ariana, but she's still a streaming monster imo. 2 hours ago, MaxMartin said: No , but this pinpoints the lack of pop touch that Kevin has. When i first listened to TS i thought it was ok, especially since i first listened to the song w/ the video, and that video is really bad, has no replay value (and I get it, she had to scrap the first video, but why would she record another one for that song and not even have like a 2nd room or a simple ass coreography. Anyways, at 2nd listen i was already hooked, especially with those "HO HO HO" in the chorus, i'm obsessed. My point is, i think the songs produced by KP take a while to grow on you, they are usually a lot on first listen, there are so much details and little things that takes a while to get used to, he's an absolutely fantastic producer, but not a great "radio pop" producer like Max Martin, for example. 1 hour ago, J-esper said: The song has just been out for a few days and probably will be an otner hit across Europe and some other markets. Dua can't afford to have a rollout in the US like other artists, that just releases the song and post a photo on Instagram She's still quite faceless there, she has to go out and perform it. They have been doing great with those interviews but i'm hoping for more (singing) promo slots once the album comes out, especially SNL. 3
Jude Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Doesn't Dua take time before her songs take over the charts?
Bloodflowers. Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I just want album out, I don't care if it flops. She will be back in studio and cooking DL4 for 2025 in that case. We want as many quality albums as possible so we can stream songs!
Cain Posted February 18 Posted February 18 She should stick to her vision and flop with dignity, this is the best music she’s ever made 1
judasmonster Posted February 18 Posted February 18 why would she do that when both Houdini and Training Season are great songs..if every pop girl scrapped their eras the moment a single flops then how would they learn, grow and explore making music they’re interested in If the quality is there then the success will eventually follow 3
