She-Rah Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Zoloft worked amazing for me but it completely numb me I was like a robot with no emotions I couldn’t even cry and made me gain hella weight I switched to Wellbutrin and I like it so much better. And it’s the only antidepressant that you can lose weight instead of gaining. It feels like a more mild adderall.
Fastlane Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I've never used meds, but physical activity really helped me. Especially treadmill. 1
makeme Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I disagree. Working out makes you feel good but SSRI’s just make everything good vibes 1

John Slayne Posted February 17 Posted February 17 i was never diagnosed with clinical depression so i can't speak to that experience, but exercise does improve and help my mental health significantly.
PixelStick Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I find exercise helps so much with anxiety, when ever I feel anxious or have a high heart rate I run on the treadmill or do as many pull ups or push up I can. It normalises the physical feelings and rumination stops. I can’t stand antidepressants especially SSRIs, placebo pills with side effects imo. The numbness may help for a while but tolerance builds and the brain overcompensates. I still have depressive thoughts but mindfulness is a powerful tool for me. 1 2 1

Velvet Night Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Unfortunately, neither exercise nor medication did anything for me.

PixelStick Posted February 17 Posted February 17 (edited) 1 hour ago, ChapelHooker said: this is scientifically incorrect btw <3 From what I have researched SSRIs are just slightly more effective than placebo and just as if not less effective than talk therapy or exercise. For a drug that’s pretty sketchy in terms of effectiveness with some potential BAD side effects, I personally think it’s so wrong to be handing these meds out the way they do for not just depression but a lot of the off label use that has become way too common too. Bosque Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Yeah but taking meds is much easier though. That's why people only started losing weight once they could take Ozempic rather than go to the gym
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Spoiler Shock therapy is better than both though but no one likes to talk about it 2

Gaga said: It is for some people but it really lowkey takes meds to get people to the point where they are able to exercise EDIT The person I quote was STRICTLY talking about motivation TO EXERCISE, that's why I wrote that in order to DO THAT caffeine sometimes does the trick. I am not trying to be insensitive, I stated in this same thread that this exercise thing ONLY applies to mild depression not even moderate or life impairing. Edited February 17 by shyboi 1 1

Yawn Posted February 17 Posted February 17 tbh i hadn’t been to the gym for a few weeks recently for no reason other than laziness/procrastinating, but as soon as i arrived yesterday and started exercising i felt like a new person once the routine kicks in and progress starts she’s going to be unsupportable!
Into The Void Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I also believe in therapy to. They do help to talk to and give good exercises to help deal
