so a song that had 0 promotion due to it's single release and music video being cancelled is outstreaming the song that charted higher, had a MV, and VMA performance? Oh wow :jonny5:

oh wow, just saw the actual VMAs performance in the OP, they were really trying to make it happen, high budget video and everything

how are the current streams looking I wonder :emofish:

She was the biggest pop star on the planet.

The only reason she didn't chart well was because in the early 2000's the Hot 100 formula consisted of mainly radio airplay... which she didn't have because she was blackballed from Clear Channel stations.

But surely the biggest popstar on the planet could overcome even this

surely the momentum of Toxic 2 singles prior should have been more than enough to chart at least #59.

Do we know why they replaced Britney with Xtina? They didn’t like her demo?

According to Dorian Moore (the producer, and it's his quote the one the interviewer from the video asks Nelly about), Britney's label thought the song was "too urban". Janet and Christina were runner-up options.

its not about him. its about xtina not looking like she was given a scrap when her and britney were at the peak of a rivalry. clearly britney spears was sent this track to record, so SOMEONE considered her for the song. that doesn't mean they're going to say that in interviews though. welcome to the music industry

I’m shocked members on a pop forum are this naive.

I don’t think Britney was ever really replaced, if that makes sense. If what Nelly said is true, it seems like he wrote that song for Britney to record for ITZ but she never used it. So he took it back and got Xtina to record it instead. Britney wasn’t replaced because Nelly intended it to be a solo song for her, and if he was going to release it he wanted Xtina on it to begin with, not Britney.

I genuinely can’t tell if you’re this stupid or just trolling :toofunny3: Please let me know before I write my reply.

You do realize that Nelly's team pulled the plug on the song because Christina overshadowed him? It could've been way bigger.
