TIMN has a 63 Metascore and the highest review I can find for the album is 3/5 stars (60%). Is this today's definition of "praise"?

That's pretty high compared to the rest of her discog tbh

And it only took 25 years to "out-do" her once :clap3: JLO queen Mimi you're nothing

Are we talking about success? These are all the previous years where they both released and Jen was more successful:

1999: If You Had My Love + Waiting For Tonight > Heartbreaker

2000: Let's Get Loud > Thank God I Found You + other songs

2001: Love Don't Cost a Thing I'm Real (Murder Remix) > Glitter songs

2002: Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix) + I'm Gonna Be Alright (Trackmasters Remix) + Jenny from the Block > Through The Rain

2003: All I Have > I Know What You Want

2006: Control Myself > Say Somethin

2012: Dance Again > Triumphant

2014: Adrenalina + We Are One + Booty > You're Mine (Eternal)

It's getting a lot of praise from people on social media, Jennifer was never a music critics's darling and never will be. Also a lot of iconic pop albums have mid MC scores, like Katy's Teenage Dream, so this doesn't mean anything.

There was one performance this year that stunned me.

It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good.

It was... There was nothing good about it.

But it was effective and it did its job.

It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth.

It was that moment when entire fandomes came together during and after Mariah's Xmas craze,

who then imitated me and Mariah Carey with negative intentions. Someone they outrank in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back.

It kinda broke my heart when I saw it and I still can't get it out of my head because it wasn't in a movie.

It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate when it's modeled by someone powerful.

It filters down into everbody's life because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing.

Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence.

When the powerful use their position to bully others - we all lose.

So I was right about singles sales... and there's only a 700K difference in albums. I expected a bigger difference. :deadbanana2:

Lovers, it's time to buy 700K copies of This Is Me... Now. Stop using YouTube. :skull:

Because we all know that We Belong Together was bigger than Get Right (although not that big of a difference worldwide).

yes, however, keep in mind that it was Mariah's catalogue which supported her catalogue the most in the 2010s. A song like AIWFCIY sold over 15 million traditional copies since 2000.

For Jennifer, her entire music career is reflected in the statistics since 1999, for Mariah, 8 albums are missing. With new material Jennifer won (aka her entire discography).

A song like Fantasy also sold over 1 million downloads just in the US alone (up until 2012).

Mariah has sold over 55 million downloads in the US alone since 2003 - as per her RIAA certifications alone.

So, in a comprehensive view, Mariah sold more singles in the same time frame (1999-2024).

so much for that

:suburban:

I'm not shocked, JLo gets dragged everywhere on TikTok with her ads for her tour, the song with Latto and the one car commercial. The comments got turned off because everyone kept saying who was singing.

Where is the song of the decade We belong together?

We Belong Together>>>>>>>> whatever JLo songs they are

Because that's the year Mariah dominated. Duh. :rip:

Also, let's not pretend "Get Right" was a flop. It flopped in the US, but a huge hit in Europe. I was shocked at the year end charts and "Get Right's" performance since it flopped in my country. :deadbanana2:
