TYMPS Posted February 16 Posted February 16 There’s certainly worse, but it’s one of the most confusing Why is her ass sat in that chair? What kind of passive training season is this ??
Dark Miracles Posted February 16 Posted February 16 It's so uneventful it actually distracts me from the song lmao
Dante Silva Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) I think the underlying reason some don’t like the video is because she is lyrically and visually representing the visceral and primal impact she has on straight men. We know that’s how they feel about her and she is the girl of the moment. The video makes perfect sense. She is looking for a deeper (non-shallow) love and the men around her want to objectify her as an object of lust and view her as a notch on their bedpost. The video merely enhances the dynamic of that relationship for the purpose of creating impact in a music video. I don’t know if people feel more uncomfortable that she is a pretty girl who dares to visually represent lust? which some consider taboo, (being bored of being on the receiving end of it and being objectified) with her full clothes on (in contrast to someone shallower like Tate McCrae who some are giving out the vibe they want Dua to be just like). Dua is a “girl’s girl” and Tate (in contrast) is a “boy’s girl”, hence the difference in their mode of dress in their separate, individual marketing materials. Or because some incorrectly perceive it to be arrogant of Dua to be at the centre of a visual in which the men in it are genuinely clearly horny? Or is it simply because the cafe has a British aesthetic and Americans want a video environment that looks more American? Maybe some of you should consider she is not the artist you thought she was on her last album and that she’s exploring a deeper, more left leaning place. Edited February 16 by Dante Silva 4 1
Cheers Posted February 16 Posted February 16 No it's just boring. The Work video is.. Rih's power is something else because how this long boring mess has 1billion views is beyond me. 1
holyground13 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I just watched the video and expected it to be tragic based upon the reactions but in reality it's just a meh video. It's more of a missed opportunity than anything. The worst kind of music videos are "comedic" videos with cringy dialogue either playing over the song or in between sections of the song (i.e. the song stops playing and starts again throughout the video). 2 1

Mark Rih Posted February 16 Posted February 16 What makes it so bad is that the song is quite fast and dramatic meanwhile the video, well.. but at least it’s not offensively bad like some others
Marry The Gods Posted February 16 Posted February 16 There are much worse music videos out there but I will say Dua's music videos have been boring lately. Actually, the new music ain't really hitting either. She needs to shelve this album and come back harder with stronger material and a better aesthetic. If someone told me Houdini and Training Sessions were recorded in 2019 for her Future Nostalgia album I'd believe them. 2 1 2

As for the video, it's boring but it's not the worst ever, bffr. Edited February 16 by Jay07

CroNich Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I appreciate she likes to go down the more conceptual route with her music videos but this is not the Sundance film festival, and tbh im sick of all the men in her MVs.
HANZ94 Posted February 17 Posted February 17 It’s crazy how Dua Lipa had one of the most perfect Pop eras ever with Future Nostalgia and now she is giving us NOTHING during her third album the songs are not clicking and this video is a massive boner killer the hype is gone and I also agree this may be the end of her Popstar era
