Doja Cat becomes the 10th artist to earn 8 number one singles on pop radio joining a prestigious list. Leaving behind Lady Gaga and Beyonce who have 7 #1 singles. Doja achieved this quicker than any artist besides Katy Perry. Is Doja Cat truly the new Katy/Rihanna? Her last 4 singles went #1 on pop radio

kinda surprising when she has one top 5 per album on the hot 100

This sounds worse than it is until you consider I Like You (A Happier Song) and Vegas are 2 of the #1’s on pop and not on any of her albums. So it’s just 3 songs from albums that hit #1 on pop and peaked in the top 10, just not top 5 on the Hot 100. Need To Know and Woman were 2 of them and were 3rd and 4th singles that had consistent streaming numbers when the album dropped. And even Agora Hills had great streaming from the album drop.

I think the biggest issue Doja has is that her 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc… singles peak earlier or are getting great consistent streams, compared to when it peaks on radio.

Yet yall keep calling her a "rapper"

A rapper can rap in other genres besides hip hop. Don’t be mad that she’s multi-genre talented.

Rapping is a skill, which can be done on Pop and Urban production.

So her having 8 #1s on Pop radio doesn’t mean she can’t be called a rapper. She just can’t be called a hip-hop artist.  :celestial5:
