Abracadabra Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Weren't those songs always intended for her next album anyway? The album just took longer to come out than we had expected, it's not like she is just adding random droplets 2 1
Oktober Knight Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Why do I not feel excited about this? She's been giving us mediocre singles lately 2 1

Most of the singles that will be included all relate to her relationship with Pique, aside from Acróstico, which is about her kids. Exactly. She's not including random songs like Girl like me and Clandestino The era started with Te Felicito which was the first "Pique" song, that's why she's including all her singles about the break-up since Te Felicito. 2

rta1913 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) I knew there was going to be so much complaining once the album was announced What was everyone expecting? For her to NOT include her HIT songs from the past two years that are all part of her "cheated/divorce" era? And we're not even talking about droplets from years ago... Te Felicito was released April 2022, it's not that bad. She could've gone the super lazy route and include Clandestino, Me Gusta, the BEP songs... At the end we are getting 8 new songs, and the singles are all about her personal life the past two years and they are sonically interesting (with Copa Vacia being the only basic one, but still cute). To me, this is already miles better than El Dorado. Now, where's the tour?! Edited February 15 by rta1913 10 2

It's a carefully considered and planned 11 track album that was clearly finished when she decided to release Loca to launch the album. Also it's her most versatile and most acclaimed album to date (89/100 on Metacritic) that everyone considered as the peak of her artistry that transcended Latin Pop and incorporated merengue, rock and world music in a cohesive body of work. I do agree that 'Dónde Están los Ladrones?' and 'Fijación Oral, Vol. 1' aren't far behind but she really perfected her art by the time she released Sal El Sol without falling into commercial tropes and following trends like she does nowadays.
DemDam92 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I feel like she lowkey missed the momentum to release an album especially with this title. This phrase has been known now for over a year. I 1
LatinFreak Posted February 15 Posted February 15 She already gave us all the stages of the breakup on the previous 7 singles so I hope with a title like "las mujeres no lloran" the remaining 8 songs are all hoeish booty bumping bops and maybe a powerful ballad. I need Shake-It-Kira back in full force! 2

Lady Claire Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I don't hate the cover but it looks a bit cheap. The one with the tears is nice and cover-ish, so i'll take it. The other ones looks like random magazines outtakes As of the tracklist it's basically an EP with the already released singles and collabs. Eh. Expected and good for her streams and sales, but i feel like she could've made a standard album with 13 tracks (the brand new 8 + her own 5 released singles) and TQG + Sessions on a deluxe, along with a brand new track and a remix. It would look less playlist-ish but still with the hits on it.
PaloSanto Posted February 15 Posted February 15 more or less what I was expecting. Now that thet title is confirmed I'm gonna assume the leaked tracklist is correct and the new songs are all at the start of the album while the singles are tucked at the end. Which is smart to keep people streaming and boost the new songs numbers. I'm not crazy about the title or the cover variants (the main is is probably the best one) but it's not like she has a great track record of good album covers. I need the tour announcement tho I missed El Dorito but I'm not missing this one

Kintsugi Posted February 15 Posted February 15 cheap visuals, corny title, no cohesion whatsoever... like all of her albums in the past 12 years 3 1
Saint James Posted February 15 Posted February 15 as long as the origami kpop collab is fake i will be happy 1
West Coast Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Ouuuu I’m excited for this I wonder if it’s gonna be mainly house with some Latin bops

Loca, Addicted To You & Rabiosa were all samples/covers + Loca/Rabiosa both had multiple versions. She also tacked on Waka Waka (including a remix & both in English/Spanish + it’s yet another sample). In addition, Islands is a straight up cover of the xx. Tu Boca/Devocion were basically She Wolf leftovers that were written with writers/producers from the She Wolf album + Gustavo Cerati. Gordita/Lo Que Mas/Antes De Las Seis/Sale El Sol were good and practically the only new/original songs on the album (Mariposas is garbage). I consider it a compilation of samples, covers, already released/leftover songs, remixes and translations not really a cohesive album IMO (even the Shakira. album is more cohesive/creative). Either way I’m hella excited for the 8 new songs (if it actually ends up being true, but you never know with Shakira).
Saint James Posted February 15 Posted February 15 i dont know why people are surprised about her doing a playlist album. she's been in her streaming droplets era for nearly 10 years now! i only became a fan in the 2010s so it feels completely normal to me lol. artists change, nearly all her peers are not doing what they were before. 1 1
