Tinashe - "Nasty"

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Taylor swift's song is predict to chart on the hot100 at #100 with zero sales and airplays and only 5.5Million streams. Base on billboard data nasty overall US stream is greater than overall Spotify streams. If it this song stay stable it should do between 5-5.5M streams on Spotify. Overall US stream should be about as much if not more. If it can do 2K sales wouldn't it chart next week.

Honestly these numbers are abysmal, first misstep from this nasty campaign imo.

Strong streams, high up on both TikTok and Instagram reels viral charts & charting on R&B BB.

Should've been an easy sell to radio programmers I hope it's the case they didn't even promote it  :biblionny:

her team should try for Pop radio as well, this is probably her most mainstream friendly moment since Me So BadSuperlove, might as well give it a shot.

Lean on me did very well on Pop for what it was. This song may not be as pop but it is pop enough and have more steams than any of her songs in years years.

@Tinashebanks what times does radio add close? can radio add the song after the impact date? like if nice life push throughout the week will they add the song or will have to wait until next Tuesday?

Considering they didn't even post about it. They probably just sent it with no promo. It makes no sense for X to have significantly more adds. I hope X didn't kill whatever she had left at rhythmic radios. Nice life said they had a big announcement this week, I thought it was this but they haven't said anything. My friend said her team was sending this to pop radios but instead it was sent to rhythmic. I hope it means they just testing waters and plans to go hard on top 40 radios.

A radio station can add any song to their playlist whenever, adds dates are just a thing to promote to radio stations that this is the single they are trying to push. So even if it starts slow it can/should get picked up in the coming weeks.

that being said, 7 adds on the add date is pretty terrible lol

Based on billboard article saying she did "705,000 audio streams during the period of May 10-13." she was doing 550,000 WW Spotify streams. So we're probably gonna do 2,500,000 this week if you extrapolate the numbers and account for increased global percentage streams.

Yh true but there is 100% a correlation between being added and get 0.5 audience prime-time plays compared to the 0.00015 audience night plays :monkey:

Your math is incorrect.

For that weekend, 705K audio streams in the U.S.

For that same weekend it did 550K total on Spotify WW.

US audio stream was ~ 22% higher than Spotify WW.

I don't expect the percentage to be the same. WW Spotify streams should be closer to total US audio, with U.S. being higher.

I'm not convinced that Nasty actually went for adds. If anything, it might've finally been serviced. The next few weeks will be telling in how many adds this can pull in!

What makes no sense is why these stations don't want to add a song that audiences clearly want to hear, based on it organically going viral and picking up steam on streaming already.

We're doing 3.5M / week WW... So it has to double her US streams to chart?

Yes Nasty is viral, but is it viral enough to do it? Is it viral enough for the radio?

honestly I never expected Nasty to do good on radio. I can imagine the regular Nancy being uncomfortable hearing it play in the car :dies:

they should try out with the Urban format instead. Pop after it grows some more but with a remix (but I don't think it would connect with the white audiences at all)

Nani and On My Mama are obviously way more radio-friendly songs

What are you talking about? Have you not see the general demographic of most of these TikToks, reels and such? Largely white peoples.  Nasty is not even an explicit song . Nani is more an explicit song than nasty. Why we acting WAP and songs much much dirtier and vulgar was not slaying radios? Wasn't S&M #1 on pop radio 14 years ago? and that song is a lullaby compare to other songs that has top the charts. Please stops making up scenarios, this is not the early 1900's. Nani is doing much better because of money and power of a major label and many radio stations has counted Tinashe out. Pop and urban radio are still possible. Unfortunately she has to rebuild her reputation with radio stations, especially with Rhythmic Radio stations.
