Has anyone considered that ratings are starting to rise due to stream figures potentially being added? TV ratings have been down for years across all channels and shows due to everyone getting rid of cable. But if they start factoring in Nielsen ratings + paramount plus app streams + Disney+ streams + whatever other apps this aired on it would make sense that more views were counted compared to the Madonna days where you had to watch on tv.

I never knew Michael held the record for #1 this whole time, I always thought it was Katy, then Rihanna last year

Rihanna sings better and dances better than Taylor’s stiff and homely looking ass. At least Rihanna achieved the record, and she did it on her own. No amount of bitterness will take that away.

Find me one Taylor Swift performance that does not consist in walking from point A to point B

Bringing up Taylor (and body shaming her at that) as if she isn't leaps and bounds ahead of Rihanna in any metric of musical talent. Hell, any MPG is.  :deadbanana4: I understand the raging though. I'd be just as upset if a performance that diabolical was my fave's last hurrah in music.

Congrats to the King. Confessions had me on LOCK from it's debut and I didn't listen to ANY other artist other than Ne-Yo's first album until Rihanna stomped the doors down with Music of the Sun.

I'm elated that he's the one who broke the record and unless Taylor performs I doubt anyone will break that record for a decade.

Funny you mention that, Prince's 2007 set had a reported 140 million viewers:

Nothing in that time was quite like Prince’s dazzling, rain-drenched halftime performance at Super Bowl XLI in Miami ten years ago. Few of the 75,000 people in the arena or the estimated 140 million television viewers are likely to forget that 12-minute set — performed during a rainstorm — which kicked off with “Let’s Go Crazy,” shifted quickly into “Baby I’m a Star,” then took a sharp turn into a quick covers medley: “Proud Mary,” “All Along the Watchtower” and a big surprise, the Foo Fighters’ 2005 hit “Best of You.”

I think it's only since 2011 that the Nielsen numbers have become more "reliable" though.

I’m not raging and I didn’t body shame Taylor.  Taylor is a terrible singer and dancer, and she’s no Stevie Wonder, in the song writing department.

Not surprised, Usher is an electric performer with several classics. At 45 he still outperforms those half his age.

Because the Katy Stans gaslit us into thinking she had the highest when Shakira and jlo beat then since the YT video has over 300M views

Majority came from viewers only tuned in hoping Justin would perform

:ryan3:

Not even discrediting him, but how many of these viewers tuned in specifically for the HT performer only?

This years game was a big one and the commercials were even bigger, so the fact people sat around and didn’t tune out during the HT show isn’t all just attributable to the performer me thinks

Congrats to him. The way Atrl kept disrespecting him leading to the show was annoying.
