X~MoviePoP Posted February 13 Posted February 13 When you were pretending to be straight or telling family you arent gay, how did you handle those questions theyd ask about wheres your gf or what are you doing for valentines day, ect?. Honestly, how did you get your family to stop making you feel pressure about girls even though you like guys? I feel like this is a universal experience. Share your thoughts and advice!
Sheep Posted February 13 Posted February 13 My friends and family invented a will they wont they situation in their heads with a girl I was friends with for my whole childhood. Once those conversations started I had such an easy out.
SweetTalker Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Interesting question tbh, really made me think. Back when I was a kid > teenager living in Mexico, they called it “Day of Love and Friendship”, so I’ve always been used to spending time with friends on Valentine’s day. When we moved to the US, I don’t remember them asking specifically about my plans or if I had a Valentine or whatever. it wasn’t until I started dating my current boyfriend that they got curious about my whereabouts lol. But I was just so nonchalant about it. Told them i was seeing this guy, and went on about my life until they got “comfortable” with me dating a guy.
flower moon Posted February 13 Posted February 13 valentines is such a non-event irl. i've never even considered this before
Subzero Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I used to just say "I don't care about dating or love. I only care about money." and then the subject would turn to how selfish that is & how "money doesn't buy happiness" but it worked everytime Edited February 13 by Subzero 2
byzantium Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) “Who has time for a girlfriend? I have school to focus on!” That worked pretty well for family. And most of my friends were single so did not need to worry about them. Edited February 13 by byzantium
Mandalore Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I did have a serious girlfriend for a while so when I stopped having one they just assumed I was single. (Though I'm kinda bi)
Iceland Posted February 13 Posted February 13 i told my aunt that i was gonna spend valentine's f*ckin his husband.

Happylittlepunk Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I’m bi who mostly dates women. So it never was an issue.
TeddyNeri Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Dude, this is normal. Family usually worries about your future and so on. The best way is to say that you’re not ready for a relationship right now, and that’s it. Life is yours.
