they count views from all social media, youtube channels, etc. It's a level of awareness on internet, something like that and also b/c they're likely  counting Super Bowl viewership, which was the most viewed broadcast in since the moon landing

These "records"  mean nothing. They are counting super bowl viewership. Sources for the numbers are dubious at best. 

 

Transformers last year was the "5th most viewed trailer of all-time" and we all know how that turned out. Wish was the "2nd highest viewed trailer for Disney animation ever" and we all know how that turned out. Hell, Kung Fu Panda 4 just did 180M views in 24 hrs and it's tracking for a $40-50M debut. 

 

I would take this with a huge grain of salt. Not saying it won't be a hit but y'all already setting yourselves up for disappointment with the "1B locked" buffoonery.
