Madonna and its not even close.

As the great Susan Sarandon said: in music history there is a before Madonna and after Madonna.

Whitney def influenced Beyonce and other strong vocalists, she showed that using your vocals was more important than making songs meant for the club/parties. Madonna had influence on the entire industry overrall; she was the first artist to speak up for herself/world events and not care about controversy. Mariah i'm not really sure, she had a great impact on Ari LMFAO :bird:, and Tina changed the rock and roll scene and made it more mainstream. the others uhmm... Janet wasn't really impactful to me, she just had a strong and lasting "prime" within her career, shes a LEGEND no doubt, same for Dolly.

Janet, Dolly, and Mariah just don't scream huge impact to me.

As far as being a pop star and all that entails? Madonna

Musically and vocally? Mariah and that’s pretty well-documented. She’s singlehandedly changed the course of popular music in so many ways. Merging hip hop with R&B/pop, rap/pop collabs with the ODB Fantasy remix, implementing complex melisma into popular music, popularizing remixes, her songwriting, her holiday monopoly. Popular music is what it is today almost because of her. Nearly every popular vocalist across genres has cited her as a reason they started singing as well (Beyonce, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana, Grimes, Mitski, Kelela, Xtina, Tori, Jojo to name just a few.)

I don't think it's fair to say "this person had the greatest impact". Modern pop music is an amalgam of ALL of them.

Whitney

Janet is a blueprint of the modern pop girl so her. But everybody on this list is legendary and that means they have an indelible impact on music.
