saintspice Posted February 12 Posted February 12 i actually don’t mind joanne but it was not ahead of its time, it sounds very 2016-2017
UnanimousBB16 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 There are some bops, but it is not ahead of its time.
Marry The Gods Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I like the album but it was only ahead of its time for pop girls like kesha and miley cyrus. most of the songs on joanne aren't even country
ImpressMeMuch Posted February 12 Posted February 12 This thread bothered me but then I went to twitter and saw swifties claiming beyonce was copying folklore

dawnettakins Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Yes, everyone is suddenly having or already had their country moment after Joanne released, she remains ahead of the time and above everyone. Edited February 12 by dawnettakins
Gladiator Posted February 12 Posted February 12 1 hour ago, Brikenbur said: No. It was just another album by Lady Gaga. She should’ve released Chromatica in 2016 instead. Joanne is better than Chromatica. Dance pop fans would not understand. 1

secretgarden Posted February 12 Posted February 12 No...? The album isn't even country it's just watered down pop rock losdldl

It's just screaming with (I think you meant) John Wayne. DIC is fine but JW is a no. Especially the instrumental. It's just not giving that White Stripes/Franz Ferdinand serve she thought she was. So I'll give you DIC.

Who said this? You just pulled this out of your ass!

Dua Lipa’s lead is produced by Kevin Parker and Beyoncé is releasing a country album after a house inspired album. I smell impact. 1
AllyGayTor Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I don't understand the "Hey Girl" hate. It sounds like a timeless classic to me OT: Gaga mastered the Country/Rock genre, more with ASIB than Joanne. And "Sinners Prayer" is one of her best works.
truthteller Posted February 12 Posted February 12 there's always a way for the Monsters to join a conversation even there's been no new music since 2020 1

Joanne was an underwhelming attempt at “Country”(?) mixed with Elton John, mixed with EDM with “Perfect Illusion.” It just wasn’t a good conceptual album. Sorry, you wouldn’t understand.
Karla Cabello Posted February 12 Posted February 12 gaga is never ahead of anything. quite the opposite actually
ohwow Posted February 12 Posted February 12 in the sense that it was "pop star does country theatre cosplay performance by referring to cliches associated with country music/life"... maybe? the problem when pop stars try to do the whole "reinvention" thing is that it feels inauthentic and cringe when they go too far in their "reinvention" performance music by madonna worked because it clearly wasn't trying to be a country album, it just borrowed the aesthetic and had like 2 songs that had country motifs, most notably "dont tell me" the best songs on joanne are the least cosplay ones: joanne, million reasons, and hey girl (even tho it gets a lot of hate for some reason, the song is actually good) 1
