[if it's Jolene] I hope it's not a cover but something like what she did with SUMMER RENAISSANCE where the sample isn't even a sample it's more like a quote or a parallel moment.

A few days ago the hive was divided between those who enjoyed discussing the numbers and charts and those who say we should only discuss the content. Now we are debating how we should theorise about the content we have. This era is giving Lem discourse and we're only getting started.

Either way I am loving reading the theories and back and fourths. The fact we stan an artist that creates art that can be dissected and theorised in length is half the fun. People much smarter than me provided valuable context and commentary on a lot of Lemonade's more subtle nuances, which initially went right over my head and I only enjoyed it more because of it.

The wonderful thing about places like this is that there is room for ALL of that. Partake in what you like, skip what you don't.

The thing about Beyonce's music for me is that I don't live her life when I listen, I apply it to my life, my situation, and somehow I always relate to what she puts out.  I appreciate her expression of herself through her music, but I listen through my situation.  Lemonade to me wasn't about her life with infidelity, it was about some important struggles I was having, and the empowerment she had was how I felt about myself.  I'll never forget the way I actually felt euphoric listening to All Night as loud as I could handle.  That song still makes me feel a certain type of way.

It's funny how music can truly feel different for anyone.

i'm a very bad example in that case i believe. Music is for me everything i love in life. I don't live my house without my AirPods EVER. But I don't give ANY attention to lyrics/meaning whatsoever. I just want to get my LIFE listening to tunes I love and Bey makes the type of songs I truly CONNECT with 100%. But beside the beat + her vocals, nothing else matter to me.

Yes there should be one. And it will be available in places like Amazon where you might save on shipping fees

Thank you, I'm looking forward to it ❤️

I'll take artistic discourse over vinyl sales panic any day so bring on the essays.:clap3:

The only thing I wanna add is that theories are ostensibly not true or false, otherwise they cease to be theories. Colloquially, in the age of social media, it's cumbersome to add that disclaimer so theorisers just proceed, assuming there's an inherent understanding between them and their audience. Saying members present "theories as facts" rings hollow to me. It's one of two things going on:

a theory fits a nice little box, spreads rapidly and thus widely accepted. To negate or disavow may come across as contrarian. That's not a pleasant badge to wear but still very much valid position to hold. The "you're all wrong" meme exists for a reason.

or a person feels strongly against a theory, regardless of popularity. Perhaps too far flung, a total reach, its very existence bothers them.

Once a theory is posited, we each have a choice to concur, question, debate, reject or opt not to engage at all. What we can't do is control its popularity, for better or worse.

Of course, the tracking might be off. But, at the moment, there's nothing to suggest that's the case.

Again, working with the data available, 150k-200k or thereabout isn't that far-fetched.

She's sold an estimated 47k vinyls so far. The CD boxes are said to be selling slowly too. But, for convo sake, let's say that's another 20k

She did 120k streaming units first week with Rennie. Let's say her heightened streaming profile gives her 140k this time as a conservative estimate.

That totals just over 200k. Not the worst, but an underperformance and an unnecessary one at.

I'd gladly take it on the chin if it were a surprise release or if the market is bad or if she did all she could. But doing anything in the ballpark above will be annoying because it literally did not need to happen. She's had weeks and weeks to benefit from hype buys.

You are meaning 200k/150K total? She would do more, that's for sure. At worst, she'll be a little above 300k imo.

However I don't understand the anger towards @Lose My Breathand @Machete's posts. Both are just talking about factual sales. No shade and I mean it respectfully but some are triggered easily and should maybe stay in the base if charts and discussion/projection of sales in the music forums annoy them.
