LadyDiana Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Donna was D O N E by that time, so her 80's stuff is irrelevant, Madge flurished during this time, janet was still finding herself and made just two good albums during this decade... like no one is checking for those first two albums So yeah, Madonna all the way!
Jay07 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 I don't know Donna's discography at all but what is up with the last album cover I don't use Janet's first two albums so I will go with Madonna but it was close.
KatyPrismSpirit Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 donnas 80s output is nowhere near her 70s output so she falls off right of the bat. madonna succeeds here

differentkindahigh Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 (edited) This is honestly such a hard decision. I love almost every song on both 'She Works Hard for the Money' and 'In Another Place and Time' Janet has RN1989 & Control. But Madonna has Madonna, perfect album beginning to end. That's enough to win first place. It's a close second though, I'll go with Donna for second place. Madonna > Donna Summer > Janet Jackson Janet may have more better songs by sheer #. But the song itself 'In Another Place and Time' is one of my favorites of all time. So it kind of just destroys Janet's chances. I voted 1. Madonna 2. Listen to this song in full on a sad drunk night and you'll change your mind. @Taste of Honeythis is the one. But Love's about to change my heart is of course beautiful as well Edited February 11, 2024 by differentkindahigh

AdrianNicki Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Donna's 80s albums are very underrated. There are obvious misses - I'm a Rainbow is an album full of fillers and SWHFTM and ASG are mostly fillers but the rest is pretty good. Cats Without Claws is in my top 3 Donna albums. Madonna is an obvious winner here. All her albums here are good expect LAV imo. Janet discography is a mixed bag. Control and Rhythm Nation **** on every single album metioned in this post. Two masterpieces. But her debut is probably the weakest album here (expect I'm a Rainbow) and even though I like Dream Street, I have to admit it's not that amazing. I would say Madonna > Donna = Janet. 1
blown away Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Unfortunately for Janet, the two mixtapes exist. Otherwise she'd eat both Donna and Madonna. I'm going with Madonna for this one. True Blue is an amazing album from start to end and all of the others have a few gems on it.
LikeaRebel Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Madonna wins but I actually love all of Donna’s 80’s albums even though they’re not as forward-thinking as her 70’s work.
Gov Hooka Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Madonnas first album is her third best so just for that she wins
Dante Silva Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Donna came up during the 1970’s and whilst she was a superstar until her sad untimely death and is rightly regarded as one of the most naturally gifted vocalists of all time, it is not at all fair to contrast the post imperial phase of her catalogue against younger artists who embody and encapsulate a later time. If you truly want to experience the joy and essence of Donna then you firstly need to set 71 full un-interrupted minutes aside, cast aside all expectations of what the streaming era has dictated to you that appropriate song length should be and secondly be prepared to immerse yourself in this album as a complete un-interrupted body of work which is embedded in homosexual DNA for a reason (and thirdly, work backwards): Step inside, she’s waiting .. 1
AxelFox Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 I think Donna's 80s work is severly overlooked but yeah Madonna takes this.
Sergi91 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Madonna>Janet>Donna Switch Donna with Linda Rondstadt and I’ll have her at #2.
CaptainMusic Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Donna’s peak was in the 70s and as it’s been stated her quality severely dropped during the 80s. Madonna>Janet>>>>>>>>>>Donna If it was their first decades we were comparing then I would probably say Donna, at least singles wise
