Greatest Hit albums are purposeless in the streaming era and he only released this to game the BB200. It’s hardly his problem if Billboard is unable to come up with logical charting rules, and you can’t speak to the behavior of every Spotify user. You’re also contradicting yourself since his This is… playlist does not link to the greatest hits album, so if everyone used that playlist, this album wouldn’t chart in the first place… Edited February 9 by Dephira

(This will for sure push them to change rules for greatest hits) I feel that they should just change the rules for all post album release songs that are added only digitally to the albums. Like idk maybe for said songs to count towards the album’s units, they need to be in some sort of physical format of that album. Or actually nvm. Idk how it would work. streaming just makes everything more complicated sometimes

Brikenbur
So what? Taylor sells 20 versions of all her latest albums and it’s seen as “innovative”, “a smart business move,” and if people are willing to buy then so what? This is a smart business move for The Weeknd since he has older hit singles that still rack up millions of streams and newer hits that aren’t on albums, so why not put them on a compilation? Post Malone has done the same to. Seems the line is always moving for certain artists.

xXavril
Okay well this Is very misleading. There’s 18 songs and the ‘deluxe’ extras are all music videos Still stupid to have a greatest hits in 2024 but let’s not act like he really thinks he has 31 hits Edited February 9 by xXavril

Green
Billboard needs to change the rules for Greatest Hits and only count pure sales for GH while the SPS should go to the original albums only instead (only count the SPS of new songs recorded for the GH, like "3" for Britney's The Singles collection or Raise your glass for P!nk's GH so far for example)

slw84
I mean you have the following examples: Weeknd/Post Malone charting albums that will be cannibalized. Pitbull/Nicki didn't have charting albums when they packaged their songs into a GH and now is charting. If parent albums get cert updates might as well apply the hits to a GH to get another cert.
