Almodusa Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) A new Oscar category has been created! It would be awarded to the casting director(s) Edited February 8 by Almodusa 2
Sannie Posted February 8 Posted February 8 That is a good idea, but I am curious how it will differ from, say, whoever wins Best Picture.

There’s tons of films I’ve watched that are otherwise solid, except for drastic miscasting that have completely ruined them for me. Then there’s casting which was fine, but the original offer for the role would’ve made it infinitely better. Almost every single role that Rachel McAdams was given first choice on that she infamously turned down at her peak in the mid 2000s when she was the It Girl she would’ve made infinitely better, except for Eva Green in Casino Royale, who remains untouchable. 2
MAXIMO Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Finally, BAFTAs did it first though. Now, implement the Best Stunt Coordination Oscar. 4

X~MoviePoP Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Casting...why would casting need an oscar when half the time actors are either already well established and offered the role without auditioning or they are new comers that the director/producer found themselves
theoghon Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Yet ANOTHER precursor to Best Picture Alongside Best Editing & the Screenplay awards

And the problem’s gotten worse with mergers. So ironically, this is well intentioned but couldn’t have arrived at a worse time for indie/arthouse films.

This awards them for those choices assuming it paid off with a great performance, plus they still had to cast a bunch of other people and it helps if they too nailed it 6 minutes ago, shyboi said: another oscar for FAD secured This is for 2025 films and on
Fastlane Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Best Casting = SAG's Best Ensemble? Everyone from the film will have an award?
