Spotify Surpasses 600 Million Users

The world's number one audio platform Spotify announced on Tuesday that it had exceeded 600 million monthly users by the end of 2023, and expects a profitable first quarter.  “Spotify had a very good quarter, capping a year of remarkable growth for the entire company,” wrote its CEO Daniel Ek on  increase of 23% over one year, according to its annual report.  Spotify also saw the number of its paying subscribers, which represent the bulk of its revenue, increase by 15%, to 236 million subscribers.

Meh. That would’ve been me as a teenager. My parents were (and still are) broke and I would’ve never asked them to pay $10 a month for both me and my sis to listen to music on an app. I would’ve waited until I had my own money.

People use cracked apps that remove the ads.

i had to live like that as a teenager with no money. it was hard.

ads don't bother me.  I'm not adding yet another monthly bill on top of everything else.

Yet they can't add HomePod support, Airplay 2, dolby atmos and lossless audio to their app.

This is me. I don't really mind not being able to download for offline (most music caches anyway so it doesn't repeatedly use data for replays). And the difference in quality is negligible especially on bluetooth earphones
