Holly Valance: "Everyone starts as a leftie...and realises what crap..."

I mean, she's not exactly wrong? People in general tend to become more conservative as they grow older, here in the US at least. I had several friends who were Democrats in college but became Republicans once they had a family.

This is true, most leftists are young because they own nothing and most conservatives are old because they accumulated wealth

You rarely find a 35+ year old person who owns **** being a leftist

At the end of the day I think most people are just looking after their individualistic interests.

You realize this doesn’t hold true anymore specifically in the US where polling data has shown millennials over the age of 35 are maintaining their left leaning views…

“Conservatives” even in the West support left leaning policies so idk how much of your argument holds true

Democrats doesn’t imply being a leftie

who the hell is this? sounds like an AI video game character name or some sh*t :deadbanana4: Valance? WAIT THE LADY IN THE OUTSIDERS OMG

She was an Aussie soap star, expected to be the next Kylie Minogue when she launched a music career, but her second album flopped and she never recovered. Shame, because despite her horrible stance right now her music was really good (especially the second LP, one of the most underrated 2000s pop LPs).

I wish her discography was actually sung by someone else with a good singing voice.

Also she was the total opposite in the 2000's wasn't she? Did marrying rich really change her that much?

Girl Holly has always given morally dubious desperate for money vibes.

I mean, if you grow up seeing people getting hate crimed and discriminated against and still think money is a great trade off for that, then you were never all that nice.

Preach.

she’s a washed out pop star and failed actress who got lucky and married rich, I don’t even know why she’s speaking about politics :cm:

State Of Mind (the album and especially the song) is still brilliant though :doc:

hmmm what’s a song or two I should check out?

Not Holly Valance at a conservative splinter group launch event :rip:

She was never the sharpest pencil in the box, nice to see little has changed on that front.

She was never very smart and it shows in her characterisation of the left :skull:

I will say though there is a kernel of truth in here in that most people are looking out for their own interests, when it really comes down to it. All of the political noise just serves to hide this basic reality.

Gonna boycott streaming "City Ain't Big Enough" from now on...

It's true.

Her only point is that people do become more CENTRIST with age. I know lots of ex-alt-right types who are now centrists

I would recommend listening to the title track (aka State of Mind) & Everything I Hate.

Her billionaire conservative husband has now switched to be a donor to the Labour Party.

This is a better storyline than anything she got in neighbours.

From an American standpoint, sensible, level-headed people do not consider themselves "leftists". The idea behind leftism are great, but the implementation amounts to screaming, crying, refusing to vote, and then getting mad nothing changes right when you want them to change. There are no plans, no pushes for engagement; just a bunch of young kids whining.
