Celine is so sweet for letting her take a pic. The fact that Taylor did not even LOOK at Celine when she was getting the award from her… despicable 5 2
ninetiesceline Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I love Taylor but she could've atleast look at her. She could've done better tbh. Céline, amid health issues, went on that stage to present. Lets go back to how Miley treated Mariah when she was presented with that award. Céline wouldn't care about that anyways and I still love Taylor. She shouldn't do that again. Thats all. 5

ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted February 5 ATRL Moderator Posted February 5 People are doing way too much It didn't look good, but Taylor clearly didn't have any ill intent? She was stoked and singing along when Celine walked on stage, and took pics with her right afterwards. I think she was just overwhelmed and trying to wrangle everyone behind her on stage. 3 11 2

They need to keep this faux "controversy" going so they have a reason to be offended at the one person most known for celebrating all artists around her 2 1

Weird that everyone else can give credit to respected presenters except for Tay-tay, but hey! 2 3
Apolonio ₃₄ Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Yes it was awkward but Céline herself is fine so what’s the issue? 1

What do you want me to say James_Dean, that she loathes Celine and intentionally wanted to show her hatred to her (even though she was the first to stand up when Celine walked out, sang along to her songs, and chatted with her/took pics backstage)? She clearly didn't mean anything by it, it's not that serious 2

Finkypop Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Who the **** cares? It’s Taylor’s award and Taylor’s moment and they literally hugged afterwards. And Taylor gave her a standing ovation when she was announced. The eternal seething is so funny lmaooo 8 2 1
Triton Posted February 5 Posted February 5 She obviously couldn’t handle all the juggling she was trying to do, dragging Lana onstage (awkward), trying to seem like a team, finding words to keep it somewhat humble. It was all scattered and borderline embarrassing. She also she seemed a bit drunk as well and almost tripped. It didn’t help that Celine came in ever so graciously and just had mentioned how Diana Ross and Sting gave her that award or how earlier Miley treated Mariah Carey. Just keep it simple.
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted February 5 ATRL Moderator Posted February 5 This Grammy tradition of starting a weird hate campaign against whoever wins AOTY is getting very tired. Y’all do this every year. 8
toxicgenie Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Taylor is usually very good about respecting legends that came before her so it was weird. It was very awkward, maybe what Jay-z said shook her. 1 1
Shimenawa Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) Well Céline can sing and Taylor can't... I think that may explain it Edited February 5 by Shimenawa 3 2
Dark Miracles Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Because she's a "tortured poet" who is personally affronted by any kind of vocal talent 5
V$. Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Well... A legend recognizes another legend! Look at Miley with Mariah. 1
enchanted0 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Ahhh I hate these kinds of interactions they give me the second hand embarassment. anyway I saw some of tweets that calling this situation “insane” and I was like… these people are clearly not ok.
Flanders Posted February 5 Posted February 5 1 hour ago, bluebirdsforever said: A rational response: Taylor, while very obviously and visibly overwhelmed, awkwardly accepted an award - it's great her and Celine had the chance to share a real moment backstage, as demonstrated by the cute photo. Anyone who has followed Taylor even casually knows how much she respects legends and her forebears, so I'm sure she would be horrified and embarrassed if she knew that's how she came across to some people. I doubt it was intended. An irrational response: Taylor Swift has one sided beef with Celine Dion (?) and intentionally disrespected her in front of millions of people, revealing her true colours. She should be ashamed of herself. Let's keep things in perspective. I'm much more interested in celebrating the wins women had this evening, especially women of colour, and again interrogating the unfairly distorted playing field for women of colour (especially black women) in the major categories. Some of you are seemingly more interested into turning this into yet another "Taylor Swift is mediocrity personified and the devil incarnate" session by focusing on this tabloid-level trash, which is both unsurprising and incredibly counterintuitive. I agree with your perspective on the incident. But the audacity to claim that this was somehow a wonderful night for women of color 1 1
mael Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Celine being used as ammo for the Taylor hate is absolutely disgusting. 1
Liafen Posted February 5 Posted February 5 This and Miley ignoring Meryl irked me so much. Especially after Meryl literally squealed with joy when she saw her name in the envelope 1
