Yayo94 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 People wear super expensive headphones that don’t just casually always get stolen, who even cares. I still wouldn’t wear it in public just because I’d probably get distracted and get hit by a car or something, but I definitely would like to try it out. this release means competitors are coming and the technology will become more widespread and easier to find cheaper alternatives for

I remember everyone laughing at AirPods and TikTok 😭 Oh it will be in like 5 years or more affordable. Scrolling through ATRL and watching my faves music videos on a 30 foot 3D screen is an experience. 1

Quest 3 offers basically the same features, but with lower passthrough quality and processing power (but it is still enough for comfortable browsing and even work). Edited February 4 by playwithme 1

It offers the same features, but with a lot of hoop jumping and the UI/UX is just not comparable esp with the eye/hand tracking precision where it feels like it’s reading my mind. There’s no iCloud integration where I can access all of my data for basic things like photos, messages, etc. The most impressive thing about this is not even VR. It’s AR and the attention to detail, how things scales and casts shadows in my environment, and how I thought I’d need haptic feedback like my phone, but Spatial Audio is implemented really well to make things feel satisfying/responsive. At $3500 though it should obviously dwarf the competition, but it’s not for everyone. It’ll be interesting when we see a regular Vision at like $1k. Edited February 4 by Starshine
truthteller Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I’m ready to be called a boomer when I will not be doing that in 5-10 years
Luckitty Posted February 4 Posted February 4 he has the money for that but doesn't have the money to buy a car?

Illuminati Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I feel like some of these people were paid to do this in public to draw interest The amount of videos popping up

You do realize mega cities like NYC are just not made for cars for the most part. Even millionaires take metro because it's cheaper and faster and more convenient.
Bussea Posted February 4 Posted February 4 look at him minding his business while a random weirdo is recording him so a bunch of other random weirdos can mock him online 1

Yeah i actually think it looks kind of low-tech gadget for that reason alone. But then many don't mind wearing bulky headsets in public. So who knows. I do think the next version is when we'll see real improvements. Right now I think its still very bulky. Edited February 5 by harwee
DamianSolo Posted February 6 Posted February 6 This has got to be some type of marketing, because there's no way.
AvadaKedavra Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I live in a Southamerican country. Sadly this technology is just impossible even if it goes cheap. Thieves are like roaches here and any tech or expensive gadget will put u in risk of gettin knifed I rarely check my phone outside the house for this reason. Imagine something like this
