Everyone trashed both songs did you think you ate with that?

I'm sure nobody expected Gaga or Taylor to scrap the era tho? Ariana is an established artist and I don't think she needs a big hit for her album to do cute numbers

She got a number one song. She hasn’t even started promo so what event were you expecting.

there won’t be any traditional promo lol

The number-one lead single did what it was supposed to do. The second single will be the bigger event.

Time to unleash the Gaga collab

People are not crazy about the song. That's fine you know. Not every song has to be #1 for three months on Hot 100. It will probably end up another billion-streamed song for her in the long run after the album release. She's fine.

It's not like Ari needs or is desperate to get a smash hit. Hasn't she made her label endless amount of money? She's fine, people will tune in to hear the album no matter how much the lead flops.

She can just pull off a cheap era like folklore where just 1 music video with the album and the era is over. Besides its a dance pop album so it will smash in the long run. Maybe 2024 isnt really meant for dance music

then why did she release 2 million remixes of the lead single?

Ari has nothing to prove at this point, let her do her thing.

Yes she should absolutely scrap the entire era and retire because people on ATRL say so

The music industry is having a hard time making money through streaming (hasn't this been publicly knowledge for the past 3/4 years?) - so I assume releasing a bunch of remixes, while of course it boosts the song to chart higher, it also guarantees several ways to increase income from a single track.  I doubt the streams on an "extended instrumental mix" would actually make that much difference on a chart, but it would certanly equate to more money made

If she was gonna do that, she might as well continue to be a REM Beauty seller and prep for the Wicked movie press tour.

Yes. And fire Max Martin. Time for millennial gays to admit his "magic" (which is quite frankly questionable outside of his work with Luke or Taylor) has come to an end. The industry moved on from him for a reason, no idea why Ariana ran back :rip:

You think Max Martin's best work is with Luke (who?) and Taylor Swift? :deadbanana:

Easily. Dr. Luke was the real magic behind the TD singles and Max made his best music on 1989. Looking at some of Max's songs without those two people and it ranges from average to awful. All those NYSYNC/BSB/Britney 90s songs = CHOPS!

She's been working on the album since February 2022. Positions was recorded from July 2019 to September 2020. Where is she rushing anything? Surely keeping up with her as much as you do, you would know this?

I see you're still hurt from me not excusing what happened with the Slaters but I always casually followed Ariana so this isn't much of a gotcha moment. But if you really think this era wasn't properly planned in the last few months, then... I guess the lyrics to yes, and must be referencing something else and not what happened in the past year

No, sometimes a song doesn't stick and that's okay. No reason to panic and scrap an entire era.

Ngl the new single is bad, a parody of her old stuff

But the fact that she can still pull a #1 and 100m streams in such a short period with a song that bad means there is still a lot of interest and she still has the power

Positions was an excellent first single and that’s why it had so much longevity last time

With a good pop track she can still smash

She debuted with 13M streams first day, went number one and is still number one globally, so the hype was there, the fandom was stronger than ever in this first week, but sadly the song isn't lead worthy, it's nothing special and for sure not what most of us were expecting.

It's funny to see these people drag female artists for doing "the same music/sound" while dragging other artists for "changing their sounds." :duck:

i think its actually pretty eventful, shes all over media for 'homewrecking', selling lipglosses in sets, doing promo shoots and even giving different covers. we got music video and behind the scenes!

im sure we gonna get a lot more how era will progress
