Taylor Swift is arguably the most famous person in America, and while she's largely avoided politics, her stratospheric fame raises questions about whether an endorsement from the pop star could help decide the next president.

Quote

A poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies found that 18 percent of voters say they're "more likely" or "significantly more likely" to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift. Seventeen percent said they would be less likely to vote for a Swift-backed candidate, while 55 percent would be neither more nor less likely to do so. Of all the respondents, 45 percent said they were fans of the singer, and 54 percent said they were not. Only 6 percent said they were not familiar with Swift.

Quote

The poll found that an endorsement from Swift would have the greatest impact on younger voters. Roughly 3 in 10 Americans under 35 said they'd be more likely to vote for a candidate backed by Swift.

Quote

"She's influenced popular culture, sports, the economics of entire regions of the U.S.," communications consultant James Haggerty told Newsweek. "So why not politics and elections?" Media consultant Brad Adgate agreed. "Swift is in the class by herself," he told Newsweek." She's so talented and so popular and so ingrained in pop culture," he continued. "No one is close to her."

Love her so much for the music and all, but she could make an entire album about Joe Biden, make it better than Evermore, and personally hand deliver a signed copy to me and I’d still politely decline. I don’t really like the idea of letting a billionaire celebrity influence your political stance anyway, but a lot of the reasons I’m not on board with voting for Biden just aren’t things that my favorite music artist is likely going to change.

You're telling me that 35% of americans would change their vote depending on what Taylor Swift tells them? :deadbanana4:

can these 18% voters be serious for once :deadbanana2:

Idk whether this speaks volumes more about how simple minded these voters are or how poor the candidates are

If a celebrity endorsement is going to influence how you vote then maybe you shouldn't vote at all :rip:

I think it may also speak to how much apathy there is in this election cycle.  Both candidates are despised and I think a lot of people are upset that this is what the parties chose for us again.

I never understood why people on social media and the media were always so hellbent on Taylor's politics since 2016. It's so weird that they've been singling her out for almost a decade now

Nah it’s just slightly more likely and a self-report. I’m not even sure what the purpose of the poll is supposed to be.

The American system is so dysfunctional that the same two incompetent 80-year olds are inevitably gonna run again after proving to be the most unlikable candidates in history. Taylor is not gonna eagerly campaign for any of them, except for some last-minute blue cake on her Instagram story.

How do you think they entrenched themselves in this current dilemma?

America has always had a problem!

Y'all can say whatever y'all want, but this woman is the definition of influential. No other musician has this power.
