Madonna dating Joe Montana in the 80s and attending all of his games or Lady Gaga dating Tom Brady in 2010 or Britney dating Peyton Manning in the 2000s would've been the equivalent to what Taylor is doing now. That's like saying she's NOT the biggest artist of all time because she's NOT generating more dollars in toys like Britney. What? this is news to me 4
Raspberries Posted January 29 Posted January 29 The only people you can argue that were more famous in the US ever are Elvis, Michael Jackson and The Beatles 1

From having the biggest tour of all time, to becoming the top selling female artist of all time in a few years, to so much else.... The power that that has. Becoming the best-selling female of all time isn't the same as being the biggest ARTIST of all time. There's so much more to being the biggest artist of all time and having the biggest tour and being the best selling female of all time is just a fraction of it (although only one of those is currently factual). 2 2

If you're going to go by concerts as your argument then you're falling flat. 3

rihannasbe$tfrnd Posted January 29 Posted January 29 All those millions and she still won’t invest in a $3 hairbrush for that mop on her head knowing that she’s going to be photographed at these games 1 5

frankvert Posted January 29 Posted January 29 This thread getting derailed by drivel while Taylor has been going on one of the biggest digital marketing & branding campaigns of all time. She’s single handedly driving traffic from demographics that usually don’t engage with the NFL... She could be the CEO of Disney if she wanted to, Bob Iger count your days 1 1

So three out of the five highest-grossing tours are from 2023 and are their latest tours. Beyoncé's tour is bigger than Madonna's biggest so that means she's bigger than Madonna and Harry Styles whose tour is No. 6 of all time is bigger than Michael Jackson and The Beatles and The Weeknd is bigger than Michael Jackson because his latest tour outgrossed his highest-grossing. So my initial statement still holds value as touring is NOT a measure of someone being the biggest artist of all time since every past first-placer (Elton and U2) have never been bigger than the Top 3 of the best-selling artists of all time (Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson). Of course touring is a measure of success for an artist. I'm not sure why you're acting dense and pretending as if we said it's the sole metric of success 2

I mean you can account for inflation with the old tours and get an estimate of numbers, but imo, you still can't compare them. The world was a completely and totally different place than it is now. Concerts weren't really a huge thing in the 80's and before. They were big, yes, but now it is like a huge corporate business model, something Madonna invented with Blond Ambition. But with the rise of social media and the internet, it's just incomparable times. The hype of concerts is part of everyday life with TikTok, IG reals, Facebook, YouTube shorts, etc. Back then you had the newspaper. it's fun to compare numbers and argue and stuff, but at the end of the day, you still can't ever compare them realistically. The world is too different.
