Do you think Rihanna prematurely killed the ‘Loud’ era?

Girl she had 6 singles

The problem was not Loud, It was that she didn't fully promote TTT so it looked smaller. She released 6 singles but only 3 had music videos and 4 got killed by messy strategies.

The album could have easily gotten at least 4 top 5 singles if promoted correctly

No. It had 4 hits + that Eminem song smashing at the same time. What else would you want from 11 track album? :rip:

All of her eras post-GGGB could have been milked more, but moving on to her next albums so quickly really benefited her in the end because she ended up building a discography that keeps her numbers high in her rih-tirement, and she cemented herself as a constant hitmaker and very adaptable to new styles and trends at a time when the industry was constantly evolving

Maybe timewise, but I’m glad TTT is its own album

Maybe. She wanted to get out of that Def Jam contract FAST

I wouldn't say this. Def Jam wanted the money.

It was a blessing to get an album from her every year after LOUD but in retrospect maybe she was pumping out albums to fulfill a contract.

album itself traditionally ended promo on CKB which gathered 4-5 smashed at that time. s&m being rude boy of era (plan B smash) made era longer than it stayed, unstoppable on WFL too. the writing camp machine

wasn't Talk That Talk actually Loud deluxe?

It was actually meant to be the re-issue but it ended up as a full Album.

she ditched 'Cheers' (which wasn't going anywhere on the charts)

This isn't true though; Cheers had entered the top 10 in the US and would've most likely kept climbing had WFL not been released when it was.

She went from one of her best albums to one of her worst in a year so yes

I think once she became a millionaire she wanted to get rid of her contract asap and just released like no tomorrow so I don't blame her

Anti was her farewell era

Loud did what it had to do and was a success

right like her team literally pulled the song from radio to make way for WFL

It had 7 singles + a remix with Britney (who was still massive at the time), what more do you want? :deadbanana2:

She could've milked All of her albums like she did Good Girl Gone Bad.

LOUD had 6 singles, and that's all it deserved. If Talk That became LOUDer we would miss out on classic deep cuts like We All Want Love, Fool In Love, Red Lipstick, and Do Ya Thang.

Sis why are you acting like we have a myriad of new Rihanna eras to discuss :rip:

I'm glad it was a separate era. TTT was more EDM than Loud and if you listen to them back to back, they do not sound cohesive. Oh, how I miss the days when Rihanna was releasing every year. She was a complete monster. Racking up number 1s like it was cake. :jonny5:

Rihanna up until anti was not playing. Every era canniballized the last. She said spacer.png

She could've released "Cheers" right after "S&M" as a summer smash with a big push - I think that song's potential was hugely wasted.

Then she could've released the amazing "Man Down" video in the late summer 2011 to close the era with no radio push, with WFL shortly after as we got it. Didn't need a video or single release for CKB.

But honestly it all worked out at the end of the day so idc anymore really lol. I miss her yearly albums.

Horrible album sales from TTT, so if she had a reissue with Loud it would’ve made that album cross 10M pure easily

Loud

BB200 Peak: #3

First Week Sales: 207,000

RIAA Certification: 3x Platinum

Year End Charts: #9

Decade End Chart: 101

Talk That Talk

BB200 Peak: #3

First Week Sales: 198,000

RIAA Certification: 3x Platinum

Year End Charts: #8

Decade End Chart: 127

They're pretty much on par with each other :michael: I doubt a Loud rerelease would have done better.

Cheers was shaping up to be a big hit in regions where the previous single didn't do as well. The release of We Found Love definitely killed its momentum and potential so it was kind of a premature ending to Loud. Cheers is lowkey one of her most forgettable singles now. I don't hear it anywhere.

Yes but that’s the case with a good chunk of her eras given her release schedule and Talk That Talk is better so idrc

The gap between GGGB and Unapologetic was iconic.

6 years of hits after hits after hits!
