Parallel Posted January 23 Posted January 23 She didn’t release Dancings Done as a single, it would’ve been her Unholy
Solaria Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Too complex for the GP to fully comprehend. It’s an acquired taste 1
blown away Posted January 23 Posted January 23 She chose the wrong singles to represent the album. Maybe You're The Problem was a knockoff version of Blinding Lights and killed off any goodwill radio might've had, and Weapons just wasn't a good song to begin with. Spoiler The singles should've been: 1. Ghost 2. Million Dollar Baby 3. Get Outta My Head 4. Sleepwalker On top of that it seemed like she was throwing song after song at the wall hoping something would stick. She released a new single each month, which was very confusing. 1
Abracadabra Posted January 23 Posted January 23 If she had made Get Outta My Heart a single it would have been her Thriller/21/The Bodyguard OST 1
Marges9 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 The album basically had no substance despite it being bop after bop
Gelato Posted January 23 Posted January 23 i find the album a bit boring, heaven and hell has some great pop songs but with d&d i listened to half of each song and nothing whatsoever interested me. haven't touched it since
Gabers05 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I'd agree the wrong singles were chosen, it's a shame that the album was not that successful. It is a great listen overall. 1
liquiddiamonds Posted January 23 Posted January 23 The album is better than her first, but her debut did a better job at trying to establish a recognizable pop persona. Ava fell into the reinvention/eras myth of pop girls when she was too faceless for that. She needed another era with her MaxCut and trying to set the tone of who Ava Max is. Instead she completely revamped her image and came back with a Blinding Lights knock off. She became even more faceless, although the music was better. Some girls are better off not changing much for the sophomore and setting the tone for a more risky third album. Idk if she can recover from that. I can still see her becoming a successful hook girl and having a loyal gay fanbase a la Kim Petras, but if her barbie song is any sign there’s little demand from the GP. Even Charli got a hit from that and Crash became the bigger album 1
aesthetic bih Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I think it's because it's more like a Heaven & Hell expansion pack. She didn't deviate as much as her debut album, so when people checked out and didn't find MYTP interesting enough, they didn't bother to check again for the subsequent stuff. D&D is a good effort from her, but there's no incentive to listen to her new stuff since it's very similar to her debut album.
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted January 23 Posted January 23 3 hours ago, Parallel said: She didn’t release Dancings Done as a single, it would’ve been her Unholy Everyone wants there favs to go back to this sound but doesn’t sell anymore
Nico Robin Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Literally chose the WORST songs on the whole album to be singles Except dancings done which is a career highlight obv 1
Digitalism Posted January 23 Posted January 23 All the songs sounded kinda the same Also she went to the weekend sound when she was famous for stealing Gaga's 2009 sound She should have done Gaga's Bad romance sound or Nelly Furtado's Loose sound
Psycho Posted January 23 Posted January 23 #34 is pretty good for a "faceless" pop girl with "no artistry"
Scandalous Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) pure dance pop isn’t on trend. it’s such a shame she has to be a generic DJ hook girl to get a hit bc her own music is gay catnip i do agree she is a bit faceless tho, she hasn’t really done anything to brand herself as an interesting popstar Edited January 23 by Scandalous
AvadaKedavra Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Artists release all the time singles and some of them dont fullfill expectations and just fade From all of those hits, this is one im still very baffled about i dont get why this song didnt turn into a Hit seriously The song is So So Catchy. She looks sexy af with the red hair and reinvented herself. The video is High Budget and so good? has a plot and is not boring. The aesthethic is pleasing. The Extras are cool What happened? Was the 80s-Synthwave style too late and outdated? for 2022? The single was released in April. Was the Winter Theme a bad decision? Should have gone for something more summerish instead? Lack Of Promo for It?
anastaciabby Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It’s always the “tastlEsS StRaiGhts” with the atrl favorites huh? Her music is basic and so is she 1
