To this day, they are able to tour arenas and stadiums in Europe, Asia, Australia, and even Africa. Actually i don't think they are really big in Europe. They are just big in the UK. You can see that their singles weren't very successful in other major European markets such as Germany. Well, they are my childhood idol but it't true

As for where, they were big everywhere except North America. It's not really hard to look up their stats or read this thread. Most of us were little kids in 2000s. Their cover was the introduction of uptown girl to us. I thought all of their songs were original

I thought all of their songs were original That makes sense for a person from a country where Westlife smashed, but the person I responded to is from North America. Westlife was not successful here at all (aside from one minor "hit" in 1999) so it's very strange that they'd somehow know of an obscure (in our part of the world) cover rather than the very famous original song.
Album Leak Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I sometimes listen to their The Rose cover. On 1/19/2024 at 8:55 PM, Hey Dude said: Idk if I remember Westlife, I'll check their tracks soon. I'm surprised Mariah worked with Westlife and 98° instead of BSB and N*Sync. I feel like Rainbow would be more massive with them. Blue low key destroyed the other boy bands with this track I enjoyed Blue. This was a B-O-P. 1

I preferred Blue too because they had a more "urban" sound. These songs could have smashed in the US in the early 00s: Their cover of "Too Close" isn't as good as the original, but it was a cute effort: And this was the 90s version of Blue. I actually prefer their cover of "Freak Me" over the original American version.

skyandground Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Technically it's B'z from Japan, closer to 90 million sales (mostly from expensive physicals!) in Japan alone

Mandalay Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Oh, they were everywhere when I was growing up. SEA countries ATE their every output until they became cover-heavy. They would sell out arenas and stadiums across Asia. Their shows in the UK were huge.
Kuntmonster Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Take That outsold and delivered us gay classics like this
