Westlife: The biggest band to NEVER make it in America?

Recommended Posts

They were big across Europe, Asia, and Australia during their peak, but they never really made it in North and South America.

To this day, they are able to tour arenas and stadiums in Europe, Asia, Australia, and even Africa.

ABBA (album-wise)?

Well, it just shows how difficult it is for non-American acts to become successful in the US. But who cares if you are relevant in any other parts of the world

And South East Asia.

They're not bands but same goes for Robbie Williams and Kylie (though tbf they both had a hit or two each but it never lasted beyond that). The thought that they're non-existent in the biggest music market in the world despite being HUGE is so odd :rip:

I had no idea they were big there. This is shocking to me

Westlife were big but their absent and lack of activity in music killed their legacy. They probably had the biggest peak for an artist in Asia.

They never made it anywhere other than the UK.

yeah exactly this - Take That would be more famous and remembered in my view and they also never made it to the states. I'm Irish and I forget about Westlife's existence sometimes.

They famous outside UK, especially in Asia, they easily touring stadium there, they just finished 11 arena-stadium shows in China few months ago. If I remember right they sold at least 60M records worldwide.

They were truly MUCH bigger than BSB and Nsync in South Africa. They were everywhere as a kid.

Atomic Kitten were also much bigger that Girls Aloud and All Saints here.

Atomic Kitten? it just unlocked memories. They made classics. Do you happen to know Michael Learns To Rock also? They were bigger than BSB.

MLTR never really made any noise this side unfortunately.

RW in particular has sold over 75 million albums outside the US - which is not only HUGE, that's legendary. It's basically Briteny level - but without the US.

I used to play them all the time as a kid, the memories :'(

I was really shock when I learned that Backstreet Boys and NSYNC are so much bigger than them

they were huge when i was growing up. i would say they were bigger than NSYNC or BSB here locally because they were very ballad heavy and you know how much Filipinos stan ballads

They are legend in South East Asia, while NSync is non existence over here.

BSB is known and loved though.
