Nicki Minaj VS Billboard charts...who's right?

i will never understand the big commotion about where albums/songs land on billboard charts. if you're making good music, that the GP/Fans are connecting with, why should a certain chart peak determine your artistic exploration/direction? billboard picks and chooses when to take action on something, and CERTAIN artists fall inside the trap every single time.

Y’all defending Nicki’s POV until someone like Drake or BTS does it too and block all your silly pop girls and then the discourse changes to how Billboard allowed the manipulation in first place :coffee2:

If your album is good enough for audiences and the calendar days are favoring you it’s not that difficult to secure weeks at the top (see Taylor, SZA, Olivia with SOUR). Nicki’s album is doing really good so I don’t see why this chart run doesn’t feel enough for her when Queen was already OUT of the top 10 by now

i mean many artists tack unrelated singles and remixes onto their albums just to snatch extra number and certifications. Nicki is hardly the only one

Posted

Yeah you can’t just tack on droplets.

if the song is good enough to go number 1 then just release it and see what happens with the song on the singles charts.

like did people forget what an album is supposed to be? A body of work. Someone just buy Nicki a trophy that says “best person alive. She does everything the best. No one will be as great” and let’s move on

She’s doing that Disney villain voice thing that she does every time she lies about something and wants to be the victim

did Billboard actually make that decision or is this just another misinformation that she spreads during debut week about the physical version not being count because of how half baked it was comparing to the digital standard version? :deadbanana2:

it's the Jafar x Ursula voice that makes me CRACKLE lmaoooooooooooo

She can never have enough or be happy, and that's the kii. Even if the album is doing well, which it shockingly is, she can never find an ounce of peace or happiness.

She basically does her haters' work for them by constantly being miserable online. :michael:

Pink Friday 2 (Gag City) (Pluto Edition) is an insane name for an album. Nicki constantly releasing songs to keep the album in the top 10 says a lot about her music and her fans :rip:

I was waiting to see how billboard would respond to this tactic :skull:

Uhmmm she’s talking about Apple Music. She had the gag City deluxe and Pluto edition charting in the top 50. At the end of the tracking week all streams combine there. This has nothing to do with Billboard I literally listened to this in real time. It’s for the Apple Music #1 :deadbanana2:

I don't disagree with Billboard in this case, but I wish they showed this level of commitment to stopping certain other artists from finding loopholes and cheating the system too.

Thank you so much Saint James

You should get Last Fm Pro, pretty cheap and totally worth it!

OT: I hate when artist have so many versions of an album and their streaming pages look like a mess :rip:

We always joke that Taylor, Ariana, Ed, Drake or Justin are chart obsessed, but in the end we know is their teams. :penguin:

This walking joke is the only artist whose 90% of her relationship with her fandom is keep talking about charts or barking about streams, sales, or views. :snowball: I know she wants a hot meal for her family (delivered to her house bc we know she can't go out), but come on. :snowman:

It’s funny cause she’s making it seem like she has all these extra tracks to tack on, but they’re all kinda terrible so far 😂 and the reality was that her album wasn’t even ready by the deadline, so now it’s like “oh that was on purpose”. And the titles of each new release is just getting worse 😂

I'm confused. She said at the end that eventually all 3 'versions' of the album would count towards *the* album's total numbers for the chart, so how is that any different? :toofunny3:

Weird af to have such policies against how artists want to deliver their art

Let's not act like she's not doing this for the charts but the arts. If she cared about the art, she would simply release a new song every week without caring if it ended up being counted or not :rip:

not even the barbz are streaming the new song anyway so who cares :deadbanana4:

I didn't quite understand this... So when an album has "deluxe" or " super deluxe" or whatever next to it it doesn't count for the charts??
