His label must be pissed about those numbers for all that was spent on the video and promotion, told him to fix this ASAP. He's a hitmaker, I have no doubt he can come stronger than this and put out another hit but he needs a rebrand bad. Montero worked bc it was truly shocking the first time around but doing blasphemy twice is insanity. he is def not a hitmaker... 1 4 3
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The song is too mid for him to keep this gimmick alive At least CMBYN, Industry Baby and That's What I Want are actually good songs 4

He has like 5 hits and even that being said is quite a push Yeah I mean he only has one of the biggest Billboard hits this century and his last era produced two #1 smash hits and another top 10 but fine. I'm not interested in going back and forth arguing semantics. Point is he has proven he can make a catchy hit, it will not surprise if he lets this blow over, comes back freshly rebranded with the right song and smashes. 11 1 3
Sombre Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The video feels forced - like a PR damage control move. It's just sad, all that forced controversy only to pull weak numbers and now having to do this.
Yog Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Him trying to piss off more and more conservatives with each and every music video. Truly an unsung hero.
The7thStranger Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The song is weak, and the shock value is so... expected. I was hoping for me. I can't believe it's all that controversial given how clear it is that this is just bait.
ImpressMeMuch Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Art should speak for itself. This video just further proves how corrupt this whole come back has been from the start, engineered to drive controversy without reason and the people saw through it. 5
Jay07 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Humble after flop. Where's his idgaf attitude now? The only thing more pathetic than using religion as a gimmick is making a video apologizing for it when it doesn't work. 4
EriKills Posted January 15 Posted January 15 He saw the dwindling/nonexistent interest in the song and said let me make an apology video QUICK. This reeks of him grasping one last time for attention because he can’t seriously think he wasn’t going to get the “controversy” he did with J CHRIST bffr 1
If U Seek Amy Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The song is mid at best. The controversy made no noise. No one is checking in. This is embarrassing. This is what happens though I guess when you do the same gimmick you JUST used in your last era with music of lessor quality. Its not like he can't bounce back. But do something different/make a better single 1
Ramooon Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Of course he's NOW releasing an apology video for a single that noone cares/talks about
ohwow Posted January 15 Posted January 15 girl... how did no one see this song was a terrible idea from the start an obvious gimmick that was never going to be successful, especially with a title like that apologizing now somehow just makes it even worse lmao
BOOM! Posted January 15 Posted January 15 He noticed that the "controversy" and stunts he planned are simply not working and that no one cares about the actual song, that's why he is doing this now. To try and get at least some success. FLOPPED!
AvadaKedavra Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) Karma for the lady gaga / madonna disrespectful comment Hope he's able to recover tho. He's like one of our only gay big stars. We need him to stay in the music landscape. He just needs to be a better human being and show more art and less gimicks Edited January 15 by AvadaKedavra 2
Gossip_Boy Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Didn’t he say he is doing whatever he wants with his career? The backtracking says otherwise. They were clearly going for massive reach/controversy and now that it backfired he’s being apologetic. Not even a fan of hers, but he might need to take a page out of Madonna’s book after all instead of being so weak. On a more positive note, maybe now he’ll get away from cheap stunts and release some good tunes.
nadiamendell Posted January 15 Posted January 15 His comments about Gaga and Madonna were more controversial but ok.
ahauntingnearu Posted January 15 Posted January 15 So transparent and contrived; he probably recorded this video weeks ago knowing he'd post it after release 1
