Kool_Aid_King Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Producer of the song, Ilya, confirms via IG that Ariana is the sole lyricist for Yes, And? I was told Ariana doesn’t write any lyrics and relies on cowriters, what happened?

Junipero Posted January 14 Posted January 14 (edited) Writing lyrics is NOT the same as writing a melody/topline because Ilya and Max Martin are given writing credit. I assume Ariana wrote the topline over an early iteration of the instrumental, and then her producers probably told her to rearrange stuff around(for example they could make the verse the chorus if they thought the verse was strong, repeat sections in the verse that they find catchy, remove some sections, etc...), so there is still some assistance going on. You can hear similar stuff in PokerFace where you can tell that the pre-chorus used to be the bridge of the song(listen to the synth of the bridge, it plays the same notes gaga sings in the pre-chorus). Jude Posted January 14 Posted January 14 She can write, sing, dance, act, produce, etc. My Multi-talented queen.
tomo Posted January 14 Posted January 14 (edited) That's not what self-written means. 16-year-olds running these accounts. It's literally in the "Written and Produced by Ariana, Max and Ilya". Edited January 14 by tomo

Tusk Posted January 14 Posted January 14 They were quick to say: “Those lyrics were not written by me!”
OneAndOnly Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Example no. 5368299163 of ATRL not knowing that writing a song also includes writing melodies+chord progression. Her writing lyrics + two more people also writing the music with her =/= “entirely self-written.”

vale9001 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 (edited) self written lyrics. A self written song in general means lyrics + music self written. So it's not a self written song if they are co writers of any kind. These music pop stan accounts don't even know basic definitions Edited January 14 by vale9001
dirrtydiana Posted January 14 Posted January 14 It’s still better lyricism than some people I could name.
