the original close up/blurry yes, and? will be the "official" cover art on streaming platforms

Both jokingly and seriously, Ariana definitely seems to be mimicking a more Beyoncé-like career shift right now, transitioning from radio friendly pop girl (YT, ME, DW,) into a more sophisticated, acclaim ed respected artist and performer (Sweetener, TUN, Positions). Positions will probably be her 4, underperforming singles left and right but she will solidify a touring fanbase and won't really flop even if it seems like a career lull...which means Eternal Sunshine with see her emerge as a fully formed albums artists whose career won't live and die by hit singles. An artistic (re)awakening if you will.

Errrr we’ll see. I don’t think she’s as invested in being a visual artistic artist the way beyonce is. She seems so much more invested in building her theater career

well of course not, there's only one bey! i just wanted to take the atrl copypasta to suggest that ariana's going to be moving forward as an albums artist now

I think most fans will eventually have to accept Ariana has never had that kind of ambition to either be a massive commercial force or even a critical darling.  Her massive success has been serendipity and a testament to her own talents and endearing personality. The lightning in a bottle moment of TU,N being a genuine societal reaction to something awful happening to someone who just made headline news for displaying genuine positivity and good-heartedness after immense tragedy. 

 

The OAH girls swarm like they do over "homewrecker" nonsense because very few public figures go from the negative perception she had to the sympathetic place she exists in. 

 

This is the same girl whose favorite artists are still like... Imogen Heap and India.Arie. She probably giggles to herself at the image of her off at some Broadway play or at home with her dogs and friends instead of a Grammy red carpet w/ celebs she doesn't like. I think she just.. wants to vibe and create. She basically willed this album into existence.

 

I know she hated the leaks, but being able to see the depth of her process and just how much of her music is her creation after being written off by critics and fandoms has been the most exciting aspect of where her career is at now, and getting to see more of that with this album is much more interesting than any possible chart accolades or awards.

 

I would die for some kind of Apple Music special breaking down the recording or even just talking about the album.
