duybeeGAshantiGA Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Anyone has Spotify numbers of Driver license and Flowers first 7 days? Me mau want to compare

SOUR into folklore into Midnights proves that listeners want to hear about emotional experiences. that’s probably why tu,n did so well, but i think that they believed that it was the trap elements that made it successful when the genre was only a medium to tell a story. thus why POV was everywhere on tiktok after too. edit: forgot to mention SOS too omg. hopefully this means we get more writing from ariana because her lyrics are amazing (i would have doubted her if i saw the writing credits before hearing the tracks) People want relatable songs. Even Adele has songs pulling 1M because a lot of girls are sad or emotional. Taylor has amassed a strong fanbase because actually fans are really into songwriting while the GP don’t really mind and prefer production See billie WWIMF is outlasting DTN. 20 minutes ago, Scandal said: i don’t think gossip alone could push a title track like happier by olivia to 1b+ also the GP doesn’t care about SZA’s personal al life. this also doesn’t explain why folklore & midnights did so well compared to lover. True but kill bill is relatable for girls obsessed with their exes and want to kill them so 2

TryMe Posted March 14 Posted March 14 My top 3 day one: 1. the boy is mine 2. true story 3. ordinary things My Top 3 now: 1. we can't be friends 2. true story 3. eternal sunshine This album went from 7/10 to 9/10 for me.
R.E.M. Posted March 14 Posted March 14 'ordinary things' sounds like 'main thing''s little sister 2 1
R.E.M. Posted March 14 Posted March 14 i know the comparisons are tired atp but 'Positions' feels like Ari's 'Charmbracelet' and 'Eternal Sunshine' feels like her 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. ES feels like a more refined/polished version of POS in the same way that TEOM is the more refined/polished version of Charmy. 5
Aribiotch. Posted March 14 Posted March 14 What are the chances we have a few weeks at #1 before Beyoncé comes? I know Kacey is releasing today but I don’t think she’ll do alot and Shakira is next week

By this logic, Janet, Madonna and Mariah are responsible for songwriting “being trendy” and it makes no sense as swift has written her entire discog. people like catchy music and occasionally enjoy pleasant vocals. And they don’t like happy albums which is why sweetener and positions didn’t connect as well as their successors Edited March 14 by dirrtydiana

I think that is why Dua is not doing so well this era because people are over the quick bops with no substance.

If you havent got it, or at least a legacy, it wont stick anymore

They clearly meant people are into songs and albums that are authentic, vulnerable, and personal to the artist, therefore giving off a songwriter feel. 1

Those two examples the user gave are not the first or last to do that be serious. But I digress because like I said, sour is a breakup album
Whore of Babylon Posted March 14 Posted March 14 a week out, supernatural is kinda the most worthless song on the album like, on most albums it would be a highlight, but here, i just skip it. 1 2

But I digress because like I said, sour is a breakup album No one said that they were the first or last artist to have those type of records. But it is very apparent that we have progressed to those being more commercial. Hits such as “All Too Well”, “Driver’s License”, “Kill Bill”, even this track, would’ve never been a hit five to ten years ago. They were the kind of songs that were considered as deep cuts on the albums and never would’ve been pushed as singles. 2
