Tm4074 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I can't see her going full on pop on the album. It would be completely out of character for her with what she has established since her debut. That is the biggest no no in the music industry - don't abandon your core base/audience/sound. Especially this far into her career. Nobody expects or wants Dua Lipa from Ariana. We have Dua for that. No matter how much ATRL thinks they want that sound from Ariana, they really don't when it comes down to it lol. I wonder if her team really expected "yes, and" to smash. Unless radio picks up it's doing fewer weeks in the top 10 than... "The Way" (4). I'm not too worried yet but the pressure is on for the second single. 7

I def think she and her team thought hype would be enough, I think it’ll remain top 10 next week tho, after that it will leave and then it can come back for another two weeks when the album drops, but yeah there’s pressure on the 2nd single

Unfortunately lighting in the bottle doesn't happen twice and tun had a much stronger narrative surrounding it (imo more importantly it's just a better song too). yes, and? doesn't have the vulnerability component that made tun what is was either. I think they really miscalculated with choosing the lead but it's nothing she hasn't recovered from before.
