KatyPrismSpirit Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) idc if the critics lash her tbh. i found yes, and? amazing and its already one of my most streamed tracks of the year. im expecting this to be her best album tbh. and numbers wise i also dont really care if it isnt as successful as her previous albums. we can tell she just wanted to put something out that shes proud of before wicked gets released. Yes, I asked her how making this album was different than the last 6 and she gave a long detailed answer. They recorded like almost all of it so I'm sure there may be content after the album is out! 3
kindararenext Posted March 4 Posted March 4 yes, and? (and the remix) got really positive reviews from critics so i don’t think the album will be panned. i remember when positions came out the biggest criticism it received was that it “lacked big choruses” (to me it felt like critics were evaluating an R&B-leaning record as if it was supposed to be primarily pop), and i feel like that won’t be an issue with eternal sunshine

SweetenerNostalgia Posted March 4 Posted March 4 yes, and has like 4 80s from different critics so im not worried about the album reviews tbh 1

Yep, it's also a bop! 56 minutes ago, duybeeGAshantiGA said: @TattooedDreams Do you think this will be her most acclaimed album overtaking TUN? Do you think it's her best album? Do the other songs have proper choruses unlike Yes, and which does not have an actual melodic chorus? MOST IMPORTANTLY, DOES SHE HAVE ANY WHISTLE MOMENT ON THIS ALBUM? Thank you Some of these questions I can't fully answer (sorry) but there are definitely big moments! Bye chorus was so catchy and stuck in most of our heads. I think it could be acclaimed though tbh unless they just focus on the media similar to Blackout. 36 minutes ago, Motivation93 said: Wait so does the album have more upbeat moments though? Is it mainly r&b ? House ? What’s the vibe @TattooedDreams we’re hoping for more boppy moments as she teased on zach sang You will be happy 27 minutes ago, TryMe said: Me too. Do we know when it will be dropping? Before or after album release? I think Friday 1

Counting Daydreamin' as a title track, I'd say my favorites are Eternal Sunshine, Positions and Sweetener/Thank U, Next 5

Tik Tok videos will be made lolol. 1 minute ago, EternalSunshinePS said: Could you maybe confirm if there are any ballads/ slower tracks ? Well most Ariana albums have slower tracks so: can't wait for you all to hear! 7

Tm4074 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 For the most part critics have been fair with Ariana. I mean they praised Yours Truly even though at the time the she was mostly known as a Nickelodeon actress and it would have been easy to dismiss her but they didn't. She's one of the few artists that don't have any negative reviews from Pitchfork. I don't think the homewrecking scandal will impact critics reviews that much. Donutgate didn't negatively impact Dangerous Woman reviews, the criticisms of that album were pretty fair at the time and it still received mostly favorable reviews. If the album is good and is an artistic evolution from her previous albums I think she'll get good reviews. 1
My20sBlues Posted March 4 Posted March 4 It's amazing how Sweetener came so close to being one of the best albums ever but Pharrell ruined it 1 3
wildsidenormani Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I don't know why but it just feels like a total collapse is coming. I don't think any of us are ready I'm really hoping nothing leaks; the idea of listening to it without having a clue what we're about to get has me perched 1

suburbannature Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Not them calling it an elevated version of past albums. “Sweetener meets TUN” - but also “house with some r&b.” and critics won’t be afraid to let loose after recent scandals. Sigh.

Like or hate Pharrell, he pushed Ariana out of her comfort zone. 3 2
