If acting is so irrelevant, why have all the greats, from Madonna to Whitney to Bowie to Janet to Mariah, dedicated so much time and effort to acting? Beyoncé and Gaga have different skills/talents, but let’s not discount Gaga’s huge success in movies.

Well then, can’t it be argued that Gaga didn’t have a “power” relationship to fuel her career and keep her in the spotlight? Beyoncé’s comeback in 2013 with the self-titled album was fuelled by giving birth, and then Lemonade by rumors about Becky the homewrecker. Gaga has never used a relationship to enhance her profile (even when the opportunity was there with Bradley Cooper during A Star Is Born press tour).

Gaga is still doing well in music. She got an AOTY nod in 2021, and another music Oscar nod last year. She was the only woman to secure the BAFTA nod In 2021 over people like glen Coleman no Palm Springs has to be brought into this thread. Beyoncé has tried Hollywood and I’m sure will do continue to do so. ot: They’re both still majorly relevant successfully talented vocalists and Grammy darlings. They co-exist.

This is a pop music board and yet I've seen your dupe self running around bragging about the sales of that book that used JT's name to sell. Your fave was dying to act, that's why she rushed into it early on in her career (and bombed) and then kept auditioning (got rejected). We can talk about pop music like Mind Your Business if you want, but I'm sure you'd rather discuss anything, including movies, over that.

I am not discounting acting as an art form, I am saying it is irrelevant in a comparison to Beyonce on a board dedicated to popstars. A few days ago, there was a thread comparing Madonna to Whitney, no one mentioned their acting roles Also it's worth mentioning that all of the artists you mentioned did movies at the height of their fame, not because they had to find something to stay relevant. You're welcome to talk about Gaga's "huge" success in movies (two starring roles in 6 years, one acclaimed and one widely panned movie so far ) when comparing her to her acting contemporaries like Margot Robbie.

Gaga was totally ''uncool'' since mid-BTW era until ASIB in 2018 saved her career, but ever since Beyonce dropped self-titled she got to a whole 'nother league of her own. And even those '09-'10-'11 years, it's kinda silly to compare them cuz Gaga was a brand new artist which came out with a bang while Bey was already over 10 years in the biz as a part of Destiny's Child and solo.

John Slayne Posted January 7 Posted January 7 i'd say they're both legends and on the same level both extremely famous and global A-List singers. Gaga's had a massive peak in 2008-2012 and she's much more acclaimed than Bey as an actress. Beyonce has been consistently successful with not many flops since the early 00s (and the 90s if we count DC) and she's just finished a huge stadium tour. some of these achievements are difficult to quantify with numbers, so imo the discussion is a bit moot. they're both A-Listers and have had big influence on pop culture
