Beyoncé started in 2003 with Crazy In Love which became a classic, has had many hits and successful albums. Lady Gaga undoubtedly debuted in a big way and felt bigger during TF(M) as her peak was huge but Beyoncé always was bigger overall than Gaga. Beyoncé did not start in 2003. She started with Destiny’s Child in the 90s. Beyoncé and Gaga aren’t even of the same generation (in terms of career), so the comparison makes no sense.

But let’s be real here, neither Gaga nor Beyoncé are getting an acting-related Oscar. And for music, Beyoncé has far more awards than Gaga.

Sorry, just reading the words "Beyonce" and "songwriter" in the same sentence always gives me the lulz. 1
Feanor Posted January 7 Posted January 7 In terms of overall career status, Beyoncé was always ahead.
Shimenawa Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Since the self titled album. Beyoncé elevated herself musically while Gaga kept serving mid albums (artpop, joanne, chromatica)

PMKARDASHIAN Posted January 7 Posted January 7 With the release of Self Titled People acting like anyone was seeing gaga from 08-12
James_Joint Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Beyoncé was always bigger. Lady Gaga was the biggest star of 2010. Not the decade, the year. Then she fell off until 2019.
lonnie Posted January 7 Posted January 7 While Gaga had a big peak, she never really surpassed Bey. By the time Gaga was in the height of her career Bey already had 3 successful albums not counting her work with DC. And by the time Gaga's music career was on the decline, Bey was more or less solidified as a legend, so she never had to surpass Gaga. 2 3

I believe Katy Perry has more than both of them and she's def not the bigger artist But to be fair Gaga switched to acting and she's lowkey retired as a popstar, she's not even trying anymore
mons†er Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Lady Gaga was never really ahead of Beyonce musically. More so visually and sonically. the reason why it seems as though LG was ahead of Beyonce is because Stefani was the shiny new toy in the industry. By the tine ‘Born This Way’ came around, Beyonce had already been there and done that. She was very much into living life and in the process exploring her artistic evolution instead of chasing chart positions. 1
UnusualBoy Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Gaga was ahead for a short period but Bey passed her again and grew a lead.

It's cute that Gaga found an alternate career path after her career imploded but no matter how much her fans like to pretend to care about the Palm Springs International awards or whatever, acting is irrelevant, especially since Beyonce hasn't had a real acting role since the 00s and decided to focus and excel on her actual craft. Are we going to compare Emma Stone to her too? This is a pop music board. Edited January 7 by Jay07

4Real Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Self Titled but Beyoncé truly won with consistency and longevity (while also having massive peaks like the DIL and IASF eras) instead of just having a huge peak and then nosediving into near irrelevance.
LVP Posted January 7 Posted January 7 2013 - Gaga was ahead for a moment but with Artpop she started to decline while Beyoncé rebounded with self-titled
alejandreaux Posted January 7 Posted January 7 i will never understand this comparison. Beyoncé was already an iconic figure in pop culture before Gaga even graduated high school. you might as well ask “when did Madonna surpass Britney Spears?” 2 3
