Pilgs Posted January 12 Posted January 12 The verses reminded me of material girl by Madonna funnily enough

My Favorite Things isn't even central to the main part of 7 Rings, yet 90% of publishing was given due to the leverage the estate had over the original work that Ariana and co wanted to interpolate in the verses. If Madonna and Shep aren't credited here, it's because Madonna's team didn't find it necessary to legally pursue claiming the song meaningfully uses her work. Sometimes there's this thing called inspiration! Sometimes works can just be clearly inspired by others without needing to be legally tied to one another! Especially if Ariana hasn't actually directly sampled anything from Vogue's production nor actually recreated any of the melody. Edited January 12 by Communion
Nico Robin Posted January 12 Posted January 12 A bop, it’s great but not as good or instant as positions, tyn or ntltc

Madonna loves Ariana so she probably loved the idea and didn’t care much about credits (if she was ever directly asked), also Ariana said she gave 90% of the royalties of 7 rings because she really wanted permission and she knew they wouldn’t say no to that offer, and ofc they wanted credits 1

Definitely not among her best work but I like it and I am happy she is going pop again so I’m interested to hear what else she has to offer ! Tbh what is the difference between this and motive? Motive is even a better song. I am disappointed.

I agree yeah The intro is definitely my fave part, the bridge my least fave, but overall it’s a cute bop. Curious to see how the US will react to it. The UK should love it 1
Jude Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) I'm sad a lot of you aren't liking it coz to me it really is a bop. Makes me feel sexy especially at the chorus part. The intro is sick, like Break My Soul intro sick. The verses are catchy. Maybe this genre isn't really for everyone. But hopefully the MV will help the rest of you appreciate the song! Marco_g2 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Intro couldve been cut in half and nothing would be lost When the song starts tho, its really good and fun. And typically Ariana still. 1
Great808 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) This song isn’t particularly groundbreaking but it is something new for HER and because of that I do have to give her a plus for this song, it’s also a good song and yes an entire ode to Vogue from start to finish from those chords to the bassline. Also, she went full on House and I can’t remember the last time a Mainstream artist did that since Beyonce BMS (Gaga did subtly with ROM but still had modern elements to it) but this is actually GOOD. It probably won’t smash on all fronts but it will be very interesting to find out. When people talk about Impact, Madonna really truly does remain the queen of that. Soup in Teapot Posted January 12 Posted January 12 This lead is also giving me Stupid Love vibe, oh it’s Max Martin behind this.

Reverie Posted January 12 Posted January 12 The minute long intro was actually the best part of the song for me 1
shark_heather Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Ok after 20 listens im ready to judge it 🤣 Obviously i love it , a gay/gym banger ... what else can i ask for On the negative note : long intro for radio , too dancy/gay for US , not clear chorus , not very tiktok friendly I really hope it smashes , i dont see it though. Regardless Thank You Ari i will have it on repeat

Dear Reader Posted January 12 Posted January 12 SAY THAT **** WITH YOUR CHEST OMGGGG my girl Arianka never disappoints
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) I mean how can she smash with this song? It can have a hugh debut due to hype and her name but it wont be a hit in the long run. I hope it's more like a buzz single / introduction to the album more than an actual lead cuz this is not it. It wont become a hit ala TUN, no tears, positions, etc. Edited January 12 by duybeeGAshantiGA

Hopefully that’s the case though or they’ll be credited later
