Aethereal Posted January 1 Posted January 1 IOP has sold over 5M units in late 2022 based on the old rule and 6M units as of early 2023 based on the new rule. I did quite some research to find this one. 1
Sheep Posted January 1 Posted January 1 So glad that my fav has 2023 albums to talk about and I'm not stuck doing "quite some research" to find something to talk about an album from nearly a decade ago. Happy for you too though 3 1
Popular Post ontherocks Posted January 1 Popular Post Posted January 1 (edited) With all the research, have you also found the release date of Cardi B's second album? Edited January 1 by ontherocks 24

Happy for you too though I am not a Cardi stan though. I looked for this only after Chartmasters posted their inaccurate units. You can use those units for your fave's receipts thread or in any future argument. It is really hard to get those nowadays unless you have a Billboard paid subscription. 1
State of Grace. Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Well wbk IOP is bigger than every single Nicki album in the US. More units, more hits, more awards, more acclaim, etc. She wasn't threatened and spiraling with her fans for no reason lbr.
Afterglow Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I wish yall would stop tryna make that "IOP" thing happen, that album is not remembered nor iconic enough to have an acronym! 3 6 6

RIAA > Chartmasters OT: What an album. Too bad she don’t wanna release a second one
Escape Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Nice, when's the sophomore album coming out? Edited January 1 by Danes

A- Behzad is not an official source. He’s know to inflate everyone’s numbers. B- IOP was certified 4x platinum just a couple months ago and doesn’t even chart. So it might be approaching 5m units at best considering the #200 album does around 200-300k units while IOP has been OUT. It’ll probably never reach 6m units in the US considering it’s tragic recurrent streams. C-My thread was about global units not USA units so you didn’t really EAT as much as you thought. D- I heard that Starships out streamed the WHOLE IOP by 200k streams yday, so the gap is only getting bigger I fear. 3
montacelo Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Cardi only had to release ONE album to make Nicki and her minions go MENTAL 2
Symmetra Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Not behazd that chartmaster thread really did a number on y’all 1

Well Chartdata has IOP over 5M units based on Billboard units while Nicki's PF is at 4.8M with Behzad's reported RIIA numbers which are supposed to be more inflated based on YT rule so it clearly shows that IOP is over it. USA is World's biggest market even for rap so it matters a lot. Hypothetically even with others considered PF might turn out be bigger than IOP only by a hair. Edited January 1 by Aristotle

So Chartdata is more official than RIAA? Don’t get me wrong, he’s the closest thing we have but not all his numbers are right. That tweet was posted in 2022 while it was certified 4x platinum months later in 2023. RIAA also counts YouTube streams and On Demand Streams equally unlike Chartmasters which downgrades them. IOP is probably around the 4.6-4.7m range and might get to 5x platinum this year or next year at best considering its recurrent streams. Behzad also said WAP was eligible for diamond only for it to get certified 8x platinum a week later Edited January 1 by VioletsandRoses

John Slayne Posted January 1 Posted January 1 tbh i'm genuinely shocked cardi has not released her 2nd album yet. you'd think her label would force her to drop it, if for nothing else then to just further milk the success and hype from IOP. i was sure that WAP was the lead single for her next era and then... it just never happened. it's strange to say the least. Nicki's work ethic >>>>> Cardi's one big album that she never bothered to do a follow up for
Tcharm Posted January 1 Posted January 1 its 2024 babe. Cardi screamed at and threatened to kill a fan and drop no new music at the end of 2023, so if this is what ya'll need to do to cope so be it but its getting a little pathetic It'll be 2028 and ya'll will still be using IOP to dunk on some imaginary barb that called Cardi a crazy fad. But thus far the unhinged behavior and no album suggests that to be true. 1

I calculated yearly units posted by oldbloke in UKMIX plus pre-album certifications in US (ex 6x Platinum single before IOP was released = 600K album units) and got 4M units 2021 or 22 meaning at least a year before the certifications was released. BTD could be certified as 4X Platinum but that does not mean it has not crossed the 5M mark. IDK what to say anymore. Whenever it is easier in the streaming era than during the 2010s to sell units I could claim that one.
liquiddiamonds Posted January 1 Posted January 1 had she made the droplets a sophomore album she'd have another 4x Platinum album in the bag. It's crazy how 2023 turned the tables on Cardi.... she needs to get herself together
Lyrical. Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Anything to cope with the fact that y’all aren’t getting a second album and your fave wants you to commit suicide Nicki is still the biggest female rapper of all time no matter how you want to spin it. 3 1
Illuminati Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Not too late to make Get Up 10 a single if a new album isn't coming

Why would Cardi’s team under certify it when they certify her songs every other month. The album was near 3m units in the beginning of 2020 and was charting in the lower half of the chart. And now it’s suddenly at 6m units when it’s been OUT or the bottom half of the chart? The album is just not as big as you’d think it is, especially globally. Born To Die isn’t a good example because it’s charting in the top 50 and had its biggest year since 2013. Of course it’ll gather units much faster than an album that doesn’t even chart. Plus BTD was a smash globally. Bigger than most pop girls albums in Europe and Latin America.
