If you mean their music takes a departure musically from what we used to hear in 3rd gen, I would agree. Even then, there was Kpop music before 3rd gen. It's no less Kpop than a lot of other Kpop music. Kpop takes its influences from many genres from all around the world, it never had a distinct sound and likely never will.
