OT: She’s the leading role of two successful movies. In both, she was widely acclaimed and had garnered prestigous acting awards including a best actress nom at the Oscars.

 

Fast forward to today, she has booked her most high profile role in film… a role only other A-listers can get.

 

She IS successful.

Why are you not getting my point? I am not shading her!! You cant name an oscar win for a song as a way to prove her as worth as actress, which is what was asked in the thread. It doesn't make sense.

I don’t find her credible at all in any of her movies but it’s just because she’s Lady Gaga, she’s so big that it’s difficult for me to believe she’s anyone else but Gaga, I wish she’d stick to music

Personally I feel she’s unable to emote on screen, and it comes off as forced. Kim K showed more emotion on her stint on AHS.

The fact that the last Popstar to truly successfully transition to acting was Cher 30 years ago,tells you how exceptional it is for Miss Germanota

 

And yes,she's a very good actress and killed every role she played ,if you dont see it then you're biased,insensitive or know nothing about acting...

If she was not, she wouldn't get all the praise and acclaim from the GP and professionals

A very necessary one since we saw her power and how she was the main driving force behind it box office wise

 

It was also necessary since she showed how good she is by keeping up with a legendary cast like Pacino and Deniro, literally every actor dream

 

And icing on the cake,the many accolades and the most important Trifecta award in her hands

She was the highlight of the film according to most critics, and proved to be a box office magnet, and all of this outside of a musical role. House of Gucci, despite its shortcomings as a movie, was a step in the right direction in her movie career; it's very myopic to think otherwise. 

I mean the proof is in the pudding, she bagged the role to the sequel of highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, and was the second best-paid actress at her third movie. Some people here are in for a rude awakening in 2024 and it'll be very interesting to witness.

She’s nominated though. That’s still a huge achievement for pop stars turned actresses… 

 

People acting like she only won for BOS and not nominated for BA…

She was the only good part of House of Gucci, really made me appreciate her acting in a way I didn't get in ASIB.

Laughable that she’s had 2 leading movie roles and has already achieved an Oscar nomination, 2 BAFTA nominations, 2 SAG nominations and 1 Critic’s Choice win with another nomination which is extremely rare as a singer turned actress. The Joker role is also not on name alone - there’s no way she’d have got that as her debut acting job  What about any of this is “questionable”?.

 

It was clearly a huge success that no one expected.
