MatiRod Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 It sounds like they had to do all this and spend all that $$$ because she wasn’t signed to a bigger label or wasn’t signed at all at the time. Usually a label will be the ones doing all this. $200,000 to launch a new artist is nothing. 5 1
Kyoto Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Their mansion was worth $2.4 million back in 2004~2005? Damn they were RICH RICH 5

Her father has always been known for how dedicated he was to Taylor. You think a family who moved half a country for their kid's aspiration is not this supportive? Thank god he's not abusive and made his kids developed body dysmorphia and bleached their own skin, or trapped their own kids in a conservatorship. But maybe that's why some of yall stay real mad about this. Embarrassing... Y'all will continue running into brick walls comparing Taylor (and a lot of the white people y'all stan) who comes from generations of wealth and whose family benefited from anti-black laws/policies to the Jackson family, who came from literal poverty. MJ had a legitimate skin condition. His was already losing his natural pigmentation. Notice his dark hands and lighter face.

They likely don't understand the gravity of growing up poor or in a system w/ laws/policies to suppress them (that still impact black people today) b/c it likely doesn't impact them. So, they have the privilege to be cavalier about generational wealth and unequal opportunities that Taylor and other rich people receive. They've convinced themselves, like a lot of rich people, that Taylor achieved things through pure hard work, talent and merit. Taylor is one of the most mediocre artists in pop history. 3 2
Bosque Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Money is a requirement to make it in this business. If it’s not your parents who can support that, it’s your record label. But of course people only act shocked and outraged by that when it happens to be about Taylor whom they hate. I’m sure Beyoncé and Ariana Grande worked as waitresses on minimum wage until they could afford the studio time for their first recorded songs 5 1 1

Namie-Knowles Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Now Swifties stop capping. Taylor wouldn't even have 50% of her success or longevity if she was poor and a POC stop the cap. Obviously Taylor is hard working but if that was all it took then most people would be successful. Not saying it's the entire reason for her success but major points. She had no barriers of entry aside from the fact that she's a woman but in music industry being a teenage female isn't a barrier. She had all the advantages given to her by this twisted society and made them work. More than that due to both luck, her work ethic, and those who managed her career she pushed these advantages even further than ever before. Catapulting her career to greater heights using said advantages. Taylor is a woman who knew she was highly privileged and used it to the best of her ability. She has brains. No. She clearly has worked very hard and has a ton of talent which is what has allowed her to sustain this insane level of fame for so long AND her father and all his money, as the evidence literally confirms here, played a huge role in affording her opportunities that the majority of other people with Taylor’s same talent level and work ethic would never be able to obtain. She benefited greatly from being born into a wealthy family and also from being a white woman. It’s just a fact. It doesn’t discredit her hard work. It’s simply the reality of the situation. Two things can be true at once, but y’all would rather see everything through the perspective of a juvenile 14 year old. Grow up, babes took 4 pages for me to see this post, which was what i'm waiting for- two can be true at once. period, end of story. i saw a swiftie saying swifties are defensive when it comes to Taylor's privilege, then proceeded to see one below already defending that swifties are aware about Taylor's wealth. just proving the former post true
